Hi,
I will be getting the sleeve done on 28th Sept. Both excited and nervous - more nervous than excited I think. I’ve been doing a lot of reading online and have scared myself. Is the hair loss and constipation post op inevitable and severe?
HI Pookyl, welcome to this wonderful forum and good luck with your surgery. My hair thinned a bit, but I don't know if it was from the surgery or from starting the menopause. I am just over 2 years out and my hair seems to be back to the way it was before. Regarding constipation, I think it will depend on how much yo drink and if you have ever had constipation problems before. I have always had problems with constipation and after the surgery it got so bad I had to have a fleet enema. I still suffer, but i don't put mine down to surgery as its a problem I had before. I don't think its a problem that should put you off or make you nervous. I was given some mild laxative to take if I had a problem. I am so please I had the surgery, I only wish i had had it years earlier. Best of luck.
Hello and welcome.
Totally normal to be nervous but try and focus on the excitement part more :-).
I had a little hair loss - only noticeable by what was in the bathroom of a morning - couldn't notice by looking at my hair. After about 3 months it was back to normal. Constipation is an ongoing issue for me. Probably because I don't drink enough water - no matter how hard I try I can't get past about 1.5 litres a day. I take a laxative that is mixed water or juice every other day and this keeps it under control.
A lot of people have no issues at all.
The biggest plus of course is that you will lose weight and become a healthier/happier person :-)
Good luck for the 28th.
Welcome; I did have some hair loss (but more due to a second surgery) than the sleeve, and no constipation....everyone's different
nice
