Will I be able to drink water normally aft my VSG?
Is kidney problems a concern with the VSG?
Can I eat carbs again after the procedure?
Will my new stomach stretch again?

    1. You will be able to eat and drink normally after surgery--even water.
    2. I haven't heard of anyone having kidney problems due to gastric sleeve surgery.
    3. You can eat carbs again, but you need to watch how much.
    4. You have to do a hell of a lot of overeating in order to stretch your stomach. You cannot go back to the way that you were eating.
    5. No information about Dr. Almanza. I believe there are people on the site who have gone to him.

    1. Immediately after surgery you will have to sip your water. Later on you can drink normally.
    2. Never heard of kidney problems, but that would be a question for your surgeon
    3. You will probably be limiting your carbs. I save stuff like rice, potatoes, bread, etc. for special occasions. Like when a restaurant has a fancy warm, rosemary garlic bread. But I typically don't eat it. I'm at goal weight but sill have to eat how I was taught over 6 years ago to maintain. Gain would be so easy!!
    4. My doctor says you can't stretch your stomach, but I don't know. All I know is I can eat a lot more now than I could that first year. But I still feel restriction and know when to quit.
    5. Don't know anything about that doctor, but I know others here have used him.

Nothing different to add -- I do the same things. I've been at or below goal since 7 months out from surgery.
Protein first, lots of water, then dense carbs...

As Above - making water a priority is a must. Sip all the time. I am nearly 3 years out and always have a water bottle with me wherever I go.
Echoing the protein first, good veg and then if room so decent carbs.....but you really do need to be careful what type and how much you eat.
