    Default Carbonated/fizzy Drinks

Hi. Does anyone know if it’s ok to drink carbonated drinks if they have gone flat I.e. no bubbles left ? I know there are calories in them but sometimes I really fancy the odd rum and coke or gin and tonic.

I'm thinking it would be fine in a mixed drink because you're not getting too much carbonation. But I could be wrong. Every now and then (maybe once a year), I drink a ginger ale and I've never had any problems.

Carbonated drinks have never bothered me, others they do. Doctors say it's a myth when you hear the carbonation will stretch out your stomach. I've stopped alcohol because of the calories, so when I'm out I have a fizzy water with a lime. I feel like I'm still part of the party.

My surgeon advised patients to never again consume carbonated drinks after surgery.
Six months after my 2013 surgery, I was confronted with a mild indigestion which was helped by a sip of ginger ale. Soon, I was not having indigestion issues but was enjoying one carbonated, non-caffeinated beverage per day. Several times a year, that beverage will contain alcohol. The ONLY time this has been an issue for me is if I either 1) drank with a straw or 2) I drank as if I was thirsty rather than as a sipped treat.
Drinking with a straw or gulping anything (even water) still is a painful experience.
This is not an endorsement of my choice of indulgence rather my experience.

I have been drinking soda since May 2019. I remember exactly where I had my first sip and it didn't hurt. Not even a little bit. I battled serious nausea and vomiting the first 6 months that at that point I didn't care and Diet Sprite worked before surgery when I felt yucky so I tried it and for the first time in awhile my tummy didn't bother me. I am still drinking it, my weight still came off.

I only drink Diet, but I drank that before surgery. I still drink my water and Crystal Light. I am hoping to cut back on the soda as I am eager to see if I can lost another 10. I found some new Crystal Light flavors I like - Strawberry Pineapple and Cherry Splash and YUM. I am grabbing that to put in my jug over a soda.

I think, Sharon you may still be the life of the party!

I don't do either. I never liked sparkly stuff, and hard liquor is a real sugar reaction for me.
