    Default Hello!

    Hi Everyone,

My name is Polly. I had the gastric sleeve surgery on Dec 30, 2019. No real issues so far other than trying to figure out how to eat! The biggest issue is the food/liquid wait period. I live in Florida for part of the year and New Jersey the other part. I have a regular “day job” but I also teach at a university in Philadelphia and am working on my PhD. Happy to be a part of this forum and looking forward to learning about others and your challenges and successes! Hope you are all doing well and staying safe.

Polly, welcome! Its a wonderful support. It's way quieter than usual, I've noticed.

I still (almost 3 years out) wait 30 min after drinking to eat and 30 min after eating to drink, if that makes sense. Otherwise I get "toad froth" and nausea. Everyone is different at each stage of recovery, but I've always had a touchy stomach.

Hope you find all the info you need! And again, welcome.

    Hi Polly.
The whole eating/drinking thing does take a little bit of time to get used to.
As Annie said above, stop drinking 30 mins before you are going to eat and don't drink for 30 mins afterwards.
It seems impossible to get all your water in when you are constantly stopping and starting around meals.....but it does get easier. I make sure that I have my water bottle with me at all times and as soon as I get up in the morning I am starting to sip and continue until I go to bed again at night.
It seems like a full time job in the beginning but it really does become a habit eventually.

    Hi Polly,
I'm in Jersey also. Congratulations on your surgery. Just make sure you are eating your protein first. If you have room, you can eat your veggies, etc. The minute you feel full STOP!! Welcome to the forum!
