Default Tell us your good news....

Ok, there is a lot of stuff happening around us at the moment that we have little or no control over.
I for one am over reading all about the gloom and doom in the media.

Let's share some good news amongst ourselves. It won't stop what is happening but it might give us a couple of moments of light heartedness.

What is one good thing that has happened to you recently?
    Not necessarily WLS related.

    Here's mine.....

We have just come out of a long hot dry Summer.
    Today we have rain.
It means that I don't have to water the garden tonight and the plants will get a good drink courtesy of nature.

We are almost drowning here, we have had so much rain!
But we are heading into spring, lots of birds and blooming flowers.
    I love it!
This week I looked out of my kitchen window and I saw a herd of deer, which is extraordinary.
I love, love, love my new house!

    Love this Kiwi!
One good thing for me is that because I'm in the house, I've made a schedule of things I want to accomplish in the house on a daily basis and I've actually been doing it! Another thing is that my gym has opened at home videos of the classes they offer and I am able to stay on track and continue my workouts! I'm so excited about that. If I were working, I'd be able to go to they gym only 2-3 days a week, but I've been able to workout everyday this week

I have been hiking in my woods, my happy place, every day. It's good for my body and soul! Yesterday it was in shorts (70's) and today my down coat (30's).

I've been doing one project a day. Like today was clean (purge) one of the grown kid's rooms. All are moved out, all left junk!!

I'm reading, playing on the computer, and trying not to watch much news.

I attended a virtual Weight Watcher meeting using Zoom. (You CAN teach an old dog a new trick!)

I have a comfy home, plenty of food, water from my faucet, for that I am thankful.

Our neighborhood is doing fun things for the kids, like a shamrock hunt for St. Patrick's day. Many put shamrocks in their windows, and the kids walk with their families to see how many they can find. Today is silly face day!!

The sun finally came out! Things are starting to turn green. Even saw my first daffodils on my hike.

My family is all well. Thankful we visited one family right before this all happened. We FaceTime the grandkids every day.

It is sort of peaceful. I'm good.

    Sharon,
We had our WW meeting on Zoom as well. It was really cool, and kind of emotional. Our leader asked "Why was it important for you to attend this meeting today?" So many of us said that it was the normal thing that we would do on a Saturday in a world right now that is not so normal.

The good news is that although I’m an “older adult” I’m a lot healthier than I was a year ago. The good news is that I have a roof over my head, plenty of food and no immediate financial worries. The good news is I have a terrific dog to keep me company. The good news is that I have a new wardrobe for my new size, although since I’m social distancing I have nowhere to where it. Attachment 28580. All dressed up and nowhere to go. Did I mention I’m getting bored?

Yay. Lots of good news out there.
I am now having to work from home and in 48 hours our country is going into lockdown.....however, my family is safe, we have food, a warm house and access to the internet/tv and books online. I have also bought some wool and have started to crochet a blanket for our new grandbaby that is due in August.

Whatever will be will be and hopefully sooner rather than later we will all come out the other side of this.

Sending you all lots of love.

I'm enjoying my garden and watching my plants slowly wake up. Peonies are starting to sprout from the ground, daffodils - some in bloom, some just about to. Tulips are starting to sprout their flower buds, some so far along I can start to see the red shade through the outer green. My hyacinth are all in bloom now. Hummingbirds (we have Annas, that stay in the area all winter) are a delight - I get to see them tanking up especially just before dawn or at sunset.

My son and I are both healthy, crossing our fingers we stay that way. Some neighbors down the block started a neighborhood group to help each other in case we need. And the larger NextDoor group I'm in is also offering the same. My dogs, especially the possessive little chihuahua are so happy I'm sticking home mainly. I'm sure he thinks he finally managed to bend me to his will.

Best news is so far, all our family, close & extended are well. We range from Canada to Mexico, to Switzerland and everywhere in between. So grateful for all the technology that lets us stay in touch!

ZOOM means I can view my adult children (oxymoron) - but sometimes you just have to see their faces. Good news is we live in a place with awesome neighbors who are on average 30 years younger than we are; they have been generous, kind, thoughtful. Not just now, but every day.

GOOD news - I have enough yarn in the house to keep busy. I do perinatal hospice blankets (sad but something that provides comfort at the worst of times).

GOOD news - I've been an introvert most of my life -- so not finding the stay at home thing as difficult as others might

AnnieG, what a beautiful thing to do for parents suffering such a loss.

Right there with you with being an introvert. Wondering how much of a hermit I will be by the time we get through this.

I've rather wondered how I will pry myself out of the house -- however, I am missing face-to-face especially with my "adult children". We are going to use ZOOM so I can put mom's eyes on them.

One of my kids is an extreme extrovert & this is more difficult for her. She's figuring it out in a way to keep from being a spreader. Two of mine are also introverts; and one is kind of in-between, but also a health professional. So...

    Hugs!

People are certainly connecting with each other more.
We are now in lockdown for at least 4 weeks - we expect it will be longer.
I am thankful for the internet and for the ability to be able to talk to my family and friends via phone or video calls.

Every day I check this website.
This is a Dutch site, but I am sure you will figure it out, it is very self explanatory.
There are a number of live webcams in bird nests, some birds already have laid eggs, some already have chicks!
Just click on the image of a bird that has the "live" tag.
The storks have 4 eggs now and it is so sweet to see, how the male brings mice to his mate on the nest!
    Just to cheer you up.
    Enjoy!
