    Default not drinking enough

HI! I decided to write about not drinking enough. I am finding I am not drinking enough and I think I know the reason but I don't know how to overcome the problem. I am very much an ice and cold water person, it has to be really cold. The problem I now have is that I don't drink a much as I am always so cold and cant warm up and the drinking makes it worse. I am hoping that as the weather warms up , things will change. People are going to say, drink tea, coffee etc, well I am not and have never been a hot drinks person. I have never drunk coffee and have only ever had the odd herbal mint tea. I am trying to force myself to have more herbal teas, but I have to admit after a few sips I have had enough, I don't think I have ever finished a full mug/cup. I am also have awful hot flushes and feeling low at the moment, which I think could be the start of the menopause. I find I want to eat all the time. I also suffer from SADs and I think that is getting me down, although the last few days the days have been lighter longer, but its still very cold. I am TG still maintaining between 60 and 61kg but I would still like to lose another 4kg. I have been watching and following Anne-Marie on her fantastic u tube video and fb and she is an inspiration and her videos do help me, so thank you Ann- Marie. Thank to everyone else on here for all your inspiration and support. Although I am almost 2 years out, I still love coming onto this forum and reading what everyone is up to and how they are doing.

I don't like really cold drinks, lol. But do like decaf teas & decaf coffee. I do two tumblers a day of liquid, and keep it with me. I hate it. It is a learned behavior, and I'm 2 3/4 years out and still not glad to drink so much!

Water is the best, in the winter I NEVER drink ice water, typically room temperature water. I love herbal tea.

I was in the Dr. Voung challenge last month and water is one of the main parts of his eating plan. He wants us to drink all we can! He says the reason is that inflammation is the cause of ALL diseases. He says water is the #1 way to help with inflammation. So that's an amazing "why" in my book! I have never drank enough water, but I'm starting now.

Let me tell you why drinking water is important. DEHYDRATION. In August and November of last year, I passed out in restaurants. The reason: dehydration. I had no idea that not drinking enough water could do that to you. Now, my mission is to drink, drink, drink. I always drink my water room temperature-except for the summer. Please find a solution that works for you and is something that you can sustain. Water also helps in the weight loss and as Sharon said getting rid of inflammation.

I have always drunk water, its the only thing i drink, but as i have said, its so cold here and I only drink it very cold, once it gets to room temp I find it unpalatable. I monitor my dehydration levels by watching the colour of my urine, so far I am ok. I agree with all your comments about how important it is to keep hydrated. Hopefully I can increase mt intake as the weather warms up. I am a warm country girl who misses the summer weather, downside to having immigrated from SA to the UK. Thanks for all the info and support.

I'm not a fan of water either. try to drink Gatorade zero or crystal lite. Crystal lite lemonade is personally my favorite. Good luck!

It really doesn't matter if you like to drink or not, you have to do it. Figure out a way. If not you will end up in the hospital with dehydration. I was self pay with no bariatric coverage, and if I ended up in the hospital with a bariatric complication that would have been self pay too. We would have lost everything!

    Just do it!

HI Madjar, I actually like water and drink it all the time. I could never drink Gatorade or such as its too sweet. My problem with not drinking enough, is that I drink ice cold water, but i find I am permanently cold that I don't want to drink as its makes me even colder. I am not a hot drink person, never have been. I have been forcting myself to just dress warmly even though its summer and then drink. .

    HI Peter

Yes coffee would be counted as its a liquid, however I do not drink coffee and rarely drink tea. I am an ice and cold water person and that doesn't boded well when I am cold all the time.

    HI Sraebaer
I am forcing myself to drink more and just have to add me layers. Thank goodness i do not let myself get to the stage of dehydration, but I definitely don't drink enough. Perhaps I will have to force myself to drink more herbal teas.

I've found that since my surgery, hot liquid upset my stomach. I also struggle with drinking enough water.

The good thing is ALL liquids count towards your total, even your protein drinks. Coffee, crystal light, whatever. Of course water is the best choice. Good luck!!

Two years ago I quit my caffeine free Diet Coke habit after having salmonella. It just didn't taste as good. I was never a water drinker but started adding the Great Value Peach Tea and put it in the freezer until it gets bits of ice. I believe a packet has 5 calories but zero fat, caffeine and sugar. I do love coffee but currently have to drink decaf while on my two week pre-op liquid diet. I'm going to have to find a creamer that I like that isn't full of fat and sugar.
