Default Four Day PostOp. Check In

Hello Everybody, I am finally on the other side of surgery. Hurray Hurray. And I am so happy and relieved. The first 2 days were kind of rough but very tolerable with pain meds. I had a hiatal hernia repair, lot of scar tissue removed due to lap band, and gastric sleeve. By the 3rd day I was feeling more myself. It surprised me at how well it all went. Nurses at the hospital were great and kept me in good spirits. The downside is that I haven't lost any weight yet, but I was warned about this and know it will happen with time. Thank you for listening..

Yay for you! Glad it went well. I felt like my hiatal hernia repair was the toughest part. Yes, the weight will come off. Follow the plan, drink your water, eat your protein, and start walking. You’ll get there!

Hi KiwiGal, I am really doing great. Today I had my first bite of cottage cheese with no issues. I am very tired of protein drinks and very ready for Phase 2. The surgery and the whole experience went so much better than I imagined. Tomorrow is my Dr. apt. which I am looking forward to. The only complaint that I have now is the I have to sleep on my back. When I lay on my side my stomach hurts, which I imagine is the staple area. Thank You for asking!

Glad all is going well Bonnie. You may find that holding a pillow against you helps if you want to lay on your side for a while.
It won't be long before you will be able to do most things without any issues.

You won't lose weight at first because the hospital pumps you up with fluids. Before you know it the weight will just fall off. So much fun! For now get in your water and protein, whatever your doctor told you, and rest all you can. I think I slept that whole first week! So excited for you.
