I am excited, worried, scared, wondering if I am making the right choice, not sure how my pre-op diet is going, negative thoughts, positive future thoughts, my mind is all over the place. Help!!!
Hi Rita and welcome to the group. There are people in this group waiting for surgery through to people who had surgery as long as 10 years ago and everything in between so if you have any questions there is always someone to help. As you will see from my details I am only 3 weeks after surgery and feeling good. Try not to worry but do be excited and start saving for your new clothes !
Thanks for the info. Wow you are already down 23 pounds after just a couple weeks that is awesome. I know I need to not worry, but I've never been good with eating healthy, which is why I am in my situation and having surgery, so even this pre-op high protein, low carb diet is kind of stressing me out.
Hi Rita and welcome to this great forum. It is very natural to be scared, apprehensive and doubtful. I was all of those right up until I was sitting on the hospital bed waiting to be wheeled into theatre. I had lost weigh on the pre op diet and thought, why do I need the operation and y husband said ,' you have tried before and not been able to, you managed to lose the weight on your pre op diet because you had a goal and need for it.' He spoke the truth. Now I have absolutely no regrets and wish I had done it years earlier. I have my life back and feel like my old self. Good luck.
Hi Rita, Being nervous can be normal can I ask why you choose Dr Almanza? Do you have a history of acid reflux or ever have a Hiatal Hernia?
Hello.
It is perfectly normal to be nervous and excited. Try and focus on the excited part of it. A positive attitude will mean greater success.
The surgery is a tool only, not a magic spell. You will need to work at changing your eating habits and you will need to eat healthy, mostly non-carb, foods. During your pre op diet is the best time to start making these changes.
I was excited about my surgery as I knew it was going to be life changing - and it was! I have made huge changes in my diet and lifestyle and it has been the best thing that I have ever done. Over 2 years out I have more energy than ever, am happier and definitely healthier.
Look on this as a fantastic opportunity and grab it with both hands.
All the best.
Hi Rita, I could have written the exact words that you wrote. So you are definitely not alone. When is your surgery? Since your on the peop diet I'm sure that it is soon. I also am on the preop diet. My surgery is in 2 days, February 12th. Yikes! I think I am less nervous than I was a few days ago. I have been praying a lot that I have courage with only very positive thoughts. My daily mantra is " I am becoming Thin, Healthy, Happy, and Whole. I'm sure you are doing fine and like the others, your only regret will be that you didn't do it sooner. Best of Luck.
Bonnie good luck with your surgery, I’m sure you will be fine. I had my surgery 3 weeks ago and everything has gone better than expected, I keep waiting for something to change ! I was only in hospital for 2 days and have not taken a pain killer since I have been home. Be excited and we would love to hear from you on the ‘other side’.
