Default Had a stall in weight loss

    Hi everyone,

I had my sleeve on December 12th. I lost 19Ib doing the 3 week pre op diet. Since then i was loosing about 4-5Ib a week, which i was really happy with. But now it is not coming off well. 3 weeks ago i only lost 1Ib, last week nothing and this week 1Ib again.

Of course i am happy i lost again but don't understand why i am not loosing faster. I am a lot heavier than many people on here so would think it would come off fast for me. Mainly worried because the first 3 months is where it drops the fastest.

I track my calories and now arebetween 500 to 600 a day. My protein is now up to between 35-40g a day, trying hard to up it but dietician said ok for this stage. I am only having 3 meals a day with no snacks and not many carbs but don't know how many grams i have. I have disabilities so am not always as mobile as i would like to be but do try and walk 20 minutes a day.

Any tips or reassurance would be great, my dietician has said it's just one of those things.
    Thanks

Sounds like you're doing everything right. Could it be you're not eating enough? That sounds like not much food at all.

I thought at yhis stage it was meant to be between 300 and 600 calories a day?? Sure i read that somewhere or someone told me.
How can eating more calories a day make me loose more? I could add a snack in I'm sure or an extra glass of milk which would also boost my protein more

Today for example ive had the following:

    Breakfast: 1 weetabix 150ml milk 1/2 a banana
Lunch: 40g turkey, 20g edam, lettuce and cucumber
Dinner: 100g baked beans, 1 duck egg

    50ml milk in tea.

    Does this sound about right?

First, sounds like you're having more carbs than anything else.
Protein, water, DENSE carbs and then thinks like biskwheat.

And too few calories makes your body shut down. But you may just be at a plateau, which is normal after your initial big losses.

Review your protein and eat that first.
Cheese has carbs and fat, and strictly speaking is not a protein.
WATER is important. Sleep is important.
    Cut out refined carbs.

    Just my 2 cents.

Thanks Annie, happy for everyone to give opinions. I see my nutritionist next Friday so will show her my menus.
I have baked beans only once a week so usually it would be carrotts or cauliflower with fish or chicken. My meal ideas given by my dietician say cereal in the morning is fine, is this not the case? It also says beans are fine.

I'm no expert, but I was never told to count calories. I was told to have protein first, then veggies, then good carbs if room. Early on there was never room for the carbs.

Good luck, looks like you may have to experiment a little to see what works for you.

Just watched a video that says eating more won't help. Check it out on YouTube. More about nutrition and real foods.

Just watched it, thanks for recommending it. Glad i swapped the beans to Turkey now. Dropped calories though to 485 but protein upped to 45!! So pleased.
I really dislike protein shakes, I've tried numerous different ones now and can't stand them so only get my protein from food. I was definitely heavy on carbs before surgery so am still getting used to high protein diet.
My meal guidance says to have 2-4 tbs protein, 2-4tbs veg 2-3 tbs carbs for my dinner. It seems lots of people get different advice from there nutritionists.

Once you can eat food, ditch the protein shakes.

Sparkles, the cereal is definitely a carb, even if its a full grain. Beans vary, depending on how they are fixed (I like beans & lentils in 2 TBb quantity.
    But baked beans
    Baked beans
    Amount Per 1 cup (253 g)
    Calories 392
    % Daily Value*
    Total Fat 13 g 20%
    Saturated fat 4.9 g 24%

    Sodium 1,068 mg 44%

    Dietary fiber 14 g 56%

    Calcium 15% Iron 27%

As always, reading labels, and doing some calculations doesn't mean you can't eat something, you just have to figure out how and when you can have it, without "unbalancing" yourself. I tend to eat "repeat" menus because I sort of know what works. But at 2 years out, still figuring it out.

    Thanks Annie,

I have had the baked beans a couple of times during the pureed stage but its only 1/4 cup. Definitely having more meat than ever before. Today's dinner will be roast chicken, carrots and green beans, missing out the potatoes because i had porridge for breakfast, then planning on some pear tonight. Managed 45g protein again today, so happy with that.

Been reading some of the posts on here are really motivating.
