    Cool happy new year

HI! Its been a while since I posted. Its nice to see everyone dong so well, especially over the holiday season. I am doing ok, been maintaining my weight now for about 6 months. I am hovering between 60 and 61kg. I am aiming to lose another 4kg and hope that I can lose those last pesky kilos and last maintain my weight at 57/58kg. I am now having terrible hot flushes and not sleeping. How have others coped with the menopause and do any of you take HRT? I am also suffering terribly from the cold, when I am not in full flush. Once I am cold I cannot seem to get warm. I am still having personal training and love going to the gym. I am hoping that with ongoing weight training my skin will firm up a bit more, as I would love to have a flat tummy. I have mentioned having the skin removed and my husband ( a surgeon) doesn't like the idea of me having unnecessary surgery as its dangerous. My daughter is getting married in a year and I hope that I will be able to be the size I am now for the wedding. I am also hoping to do another trek, as I thoroughly enjoyed my trip to Ethiopia and even though I was completely out of my comfort zone, I would do it again. I wish everyone a great and successful 2020 and keep posting on here as I love to see and hear everyone's news.

Yes to menopause, no to HRT. I found eliminating caffeine helped tremendously, and also cotton sheets, clothing. But honestly, only probably had two hot flashes total. HRT, if you have had breast cancer, is not an option. Nor are a lot of soy products.

HI Annie, thanks for the response. I do not have caffeine, never have as I do not drink coffee. I am hoping to go to a menopause clinic to discuss my options. You are very lucky not to have hot flushes.

    Hi.
My menopause was over before my surgery. I didn't take HRT my Dr wasn't a fan. I did take some natural remedy (Remifemin) and found it useful.
Mainly got hot flashes at night time. Thankfully they didn't last for too long. The biggest pain was waking in the night and not being able to go back to sleep. Great idea to seek help from the professionals.

Happy New Year to you! I went through menopause fairly young (42) and have not had HRT. Thankfully hotflashes/night sweats weren't an issue for me. Instead my metabolism died and my appetite tripled (thus the eventual VSG). I have had a few hot flashes since losing weight, but nothing too awful and they seem to be decreasing. I've found that I'm more likely to have a hot flash if I become overheated such as sitting in a car and the sun starts beating in my window. That said, I typically dress in layers. I hope you can get some relief.
