Default Holiday - NO gain! Loss!

I was so nervous getting back from 10 days away from the scales, eating out, celebrating with lifetime friends and being at the beach. Dreaded the first step onto the scales.

I was so excited! Actually came home down 2 lbs!

I honestly cannot say I made the very best choices, but I enjoyed it and sraebaer deserves a thank you. WW tracking works so marvelously for maintenance (and slow steady loss when you need it).

At 2+ years post sleeve, I continue to marvel that my weight feels like I have some control. BUT I am a mindful eater now and do track my food and weight every day.

Success is so new to me in this area! Thanks to each of you for your support!
Couldn't have done it without y'all.

Thats awesome! Tracking all food does make a big difference, I'm recently back on My Fitness Pal too.

    Yay for no gain!

I did fine through Thanksgiving and Christmas, but that week between Christmas and New Year's got me. I got up to 123 for a day. My honey and I started a diet on the second. He's down 6lbs and I'm back to 116... despite the 15 shortbread cookies I ate last night

OH Kristina, I always want to be you and be able to eat cookies.

BUT I have struggled with diabetes for 40+ years (since first pregnancy), and while post VGS I no longer have to take meds; my blood sugar is pretty normal and A1C perfect, the ophthalmologist told me yesterday that sugar spikes (which I get if I have too much sugar at one time.

It still causes diabetic retinopathy just as if you were on insulin. So at 68, I need to remember this is my HEALTH, and one cookie at a time is okay for me but not lots, even though it might not make be re-gain permanently.

You always look so fabulous! Kudos for your husband be so supportive and proactive.

My mother always warns me about diabetes. My grandmother was type 1, and both of my parents were/are type 2 until they had VSG. It's so damn frustrating because I was not a sugar monster prior to surgery. Sure, I liked cookies, but I wasn't obsessed with them. I wonder if it's because I'm thin now, and feel like I'm free to eat them?? Also, I told my husband last night after about a minute and a half into my dinner of grilled pork chop and boiled cabbage when it all came right back out... it's funny how I can take three bites of real food, and my belly immediately revolts, but I can eat 15 cookies with no problem at all. If it weren't for the junk that my stomach tolerates, I'd get nothing at all since it likes to give back all the good for me stuff. It's been over 5 years, you'd think my stomach would get the hang of this.

I am hoping to ski, hike and snowshoe off my Thanksgiving and Christmas pounds. It's the cookies that got me where I am today Katrina!! About 7 pounds over my goal. But I've skied for 4 days so far, so I'm sure I've lost a few.

Kristina, I do have the same "toad froth" from good food, but not from sweets. Hmm.
That said, I literally have to put down my fork between bites of real food, chew what seems like forever, and then do the 10=15 second wait before next bite. Then it stays down. Of course, I don't eat as much when I eat that slowly, so not sure which.

But cookies...I don't really eat other sweets, so normally bake them for the family and not the cookies. But man can I put them away with no repurcussion -- except diabetes and weight gain, lol!

Let me know when we all get this figured out!
