Hello. No surgery date yet. I had a consolation with my surgeon at Kaiser Fremont. I need to lose 15 pounds before scheduling my surgery date. So far I have gained 3 pounds. I am stressed.

Did they tell you why? My doctor explained that losing a bit of weight ahead of time shrinks your liver and gives you a better outcome because they can get in there and do the surgery easier. This helped me to lose a bit ahead of time. And - if you try the “after surgery” diet (the first couple of weeks after surgery) you will lose, you will prove to yourself you can do it, AND you will see first hand what you’re up against. This is NOT easy and NOT a quick fix. But I’m really glad I tried the diet before I had the surgery. At least I wasn’t shocked by the drastic deprivation afterwards.
You'll be okay once you sort of settle into the whole idea of the sleeve. Weight gain happens when we are stressed, regardless of what we eat. It's that cortisol thing that plays with us when we are too heavy.
Read, ask questions and get comfortable. You''ll do well once you get the hang of things.
In understand your frustration. That's the reason we need surgery, we can not lose that weight on yr own. It just seems silly to me.
Thanks for replying. I plain on trying it this week. The doctor did not give me a reason. I had so many questions but forgot that one.
Thanks
