    Default See Ya Sees

So someone sent us a pound box of See's Candy as a gift. I opened it and ate 2 pieces. They didn't even taste good. Hubby tried one too. I suggested throwing it out and he agreed. So I couldn't dig back in the trash, I tossed every piece out of the box, into the gross garbage.

Either my tastes have changed or I'm just not used to that junk anymore.

Not only do I throw it in the trash, I sprinkle it with Comet so I'm not tempted to go back! (an old Weight Watchers tip)

I smushed it into fish skin and coffee grounds with the box.

I love the Comet, fish skin and coffee ground ideas. Those are keepers! I recently went to an event where lasagna was being served. I was a little worried about it because I LOVE lasagna, but not once the lasagna was served. It was the worst I’d ever had. How do you mess up lasagna? This stuff was a soggy noodle with tomato sauce on it. I decided to not waste my carbs on that crap. I managed to make it through the meal and have a protein drink after I got home.
On a similar note I keep seeing posts (not necessarily on this site) from people saying that surgery changed their “taste buds”. At the risk of stepping in it, I don’t get it. They didn’t operate on our taste buds. That makes no sense. What I’m thinking is that through their pre-op and post-op diets they’ve got their sugar addiction under control. As for myself, I love all the things I did before surgery but have finally learned that carbs tend to be a trigger for me. If I have some bread it only makes me want more. Same for sweets, etc. That said, my takeaway is that I avoid my trigger foods.

HI Janny, i agree with you, its not your taste buds but your change in attitude to food. I have always loved Mac and Cheese, now if I have just one pasta spoonful, I have had enough and thought nope didn't enjoy that. I find my go to food now is grilled fish and I love chicken wings. I agree that sugar is addictive and that is what we have to be careful of. I have not had any bread since my surgery, as I am scared that if I have one bagel I will want more. I try and stay clear of my trigger foods as well.

I have 13 Dogs I just read this post and have only just given my piece of cake which tasted awful to the dogs. It tasted of chemicals in my opinion.
My dog loved it I know its not good for them but the one who got it is 17 and not long for this world so he loves Fruit and sweet-tasting things so Teddy had something he would not normally get!

Love the idea of chucking fish skins and something to spoil it so you cant fish it out, I may try that.

    How are you doing?
I have not been around for a while life has been busier than I ever remember but I am concentrating on new projects and they take so much of the day up.

Lovely to read your messages again.

Kenyon, the comet, oh my! And Sharon the fish! You guys are so cool.

I have actually chewed up something I thought I would like, and spit it out in the trash. I DO NOT have to eat something.

Not a big fan of candy, or cakes, or pie anymore. I find my cooking and baking for others is kind of like vicarious eating. Maybe it's the bonhomie that goes with food we're after, not the food?

But hooray for See's being no more seen. (Glad it wasn't Fannie Farmer chocolates...)
