Default Waiting for surgery, gained weight, so embarrassing.

I was just wondering if anyone else has experienced gaining a few lbs while waiting for surgery. This is very humiliating and embarrassing to admit but maybe by admitting it I will start doing better. My whole life I have eaten sweets when I feel anxious or excited (ok, any reason, lol) so this is how I'm handling this situation also. Every day I say that I will start doing what I should be doing. I journal my food and eat what my dietician suggested for about 7 days, then fall off the wagon. Please be gentle, I need support and positive thoughts at this time. Thank you so much in advance.

A little gain before surgery is no biggie. After surgery it will fall off if you follow the rules! Best of luck to you.

I gained and lost a few pounds here and there. My insurance didn't require and weight loss, and my surgeon wasn't too concerned. He was more concerned with me making my appointments and learning all that I could before surgery day. I was 276 at my first seminar appt and 263 on my day of surgery. I'm two weeks out right now and down 10 pounds.

I wouldn't get really stressed since you know what you're doing

I would offer a couple of suggestions: 1) do track even the less the choices; 2) journal your feelings! It's an easy useful tool Penzu offers a secure online free journal if you are not in the habit of handwriting things...

Counseling? I've done it and it helped. A few others I know are but am sure they will chime in
    [I]HW: 240 lbs SW: 199 lbs GW: 140 lbs

    1 MO = 167.0 2 MO = 156.4
    3 MO = 148.4 4 MO = 140.6
    5 MO = 136.0 6 MO = 130.0 (GOAL)
    1 YR = 122.0 2 YR = 140.00

Happy with my weight; happy with my size; over-the-moon with my health!

I know what you're going through. When I get anxious, I eat junk food too. At my last weigh in, I'd gained 6 pounds. I felt so ashamed. Now I'm trying to get back on track but it's difficult because I'm still so very anxious. But hang in there. We'll be okay Best of luck to you!

Thank you all so much for your kind words and support. I know sort of what my commitments will be once I have the surgery since I had the lap band for 8 yrs. I also know that it is a good idea to start practicing them now so I can get used to my new relationship with food. I will start journally my feelings, I do love to write.
