Hello, just starting out, haven't had surgery yet. Wanting to find out more about pre op eating way of eating. Hoping to put my diabetes into remission forever. I am so happy to be here😊
Welcome! It's a great support group; my diabetes and A1C have been perfect the past two years! Totally worth it!
Welcome.
This is a great place for support and advice.
Your pre-op diet will depend on your surgeon. We all seem to have had different plans.
I was on a 3 week Opti fast diet - 3 items daily with 1 cup of vegetables (not carbs) allowed a day.
It was the worst part of the whole process but even then it wasn't too bad. I knew it was for a limited amount of time and that the end result would be an easier surgery.
I was on an all liquid two week diet. Chicken broth, protein shakes, no sugar drinks and sugar free jello. The first 2-3 days were tough but then it got easier. I lost 19 lbs in two weeks before surgery. My surgeon stated the surgery was easier and I jump started my weight loss. Actually the two week pre-op diet was the toughest part of the whole process. Post surgery I didn't want to think about food for a week and then I had very little hunger. I started my journey at 307lbs and now weigh 207. I've stayed at this weight for the last 14 months. I am a 6' tall athletically built male. I am now at my former football playing weight of 50 years ago. Great surgical tool. It really really works. Best of luck. FOLLOW THE PROGRAM.
