Hey there! So I am going in for surgery in a couple weeks. November 14th. I am looking for some support and learning as much as I can before then. My major question is when can I go back to work lol

    Hi and welcome.
This is a great place for support and advice.

How exciting that your surgery is soon.

I took 2 weeks off work - because I could. I have an office desk job so not physically strenuous and possibly could have returned after 1 week. However I felt good for taking the 2 weeks. It gave me time to get over the surgery and to get to grips with my new eating plan. When I returned I was fine to work the whole day but didn't feel like doing much when I got home as I was still quite tired.

My advice is to take as long as you can. Make sure that you pace yourself when you return and remember that you have had major surgery so you will be recuperating from that. You will not have as much energy as normal as your food intake is limited for the first few weeks/month.

    Good luck with everything.

Thank you so much for replying. I wish I could take more time. But I’m the only one paying my bills. I am hoping to be able to go back after a week. That’s what I put in for my time off. However I know it could be more.

If you are able, take as much time as you can. I know that I was able to at least have time to not only recover, but to go to my doctor appointments and to figure out my new way of eating without having to immediately return to work. Congratulations on having your surgery date. Whatever time you take, I am sure that you will be able to manage it. Take it easy and rest when you can.

Depends on what type of job, but I had a desk job and went back in 9 days after surgery. I believe "normalizing" your routine as quickly as possible, sets you up for success, albeit; the "normal" is different after surgery.
Good luck on your upcoming surgery

Welcome! Everyone has a bit difference in their experience, but I found at 4 days, except for naps, I was back to normal in terms of energy. Rest, sip, walk.
