    Default Three Year Surgiversary

I don't think I've posted much since last year, because things have been going well. So far my biggest fear, REGAIN, has been kept at bay. I can absolutely see that as time goes on, it could be something that would be easier to do. It seems like each year, I've been able to eat a little bit more at meals than the previous year. I make an effort to be mindful of my portions, so that helps. I still follow the "rules" that I started with, no drinking with meals, no soft drinks, no starchy meals, etc. so I think that helps a lot. I also weigh myself EVERY morning, and give myself a 4 pound zone. If I get towards the top of the zone, I'm very careful for a few days until I go down. At this point, I can absolutely see why people say that the surgery is a TOOL in weight loss, but not a fix all.
For anyone considering doing this, please think about what you want to get out of it. It has been wonderful not having to be on the diet roller coaster for the past three years. The amount of energy that I used to devote to focus on my weight and the self loathing of my size, is gone. I never really realized how my weight had an impact on my thought processes and how I was limiting myself on things that I wanted to do. By far, this is the best thing that I've ever done for myself. I know that the temptation to overeat or to eat unhealthy things will always be there, otherwise I would never have gotten to the point of needing the surgery. However, I feel like I have a weapon in the fight that actually works!

    Congratulations on your surgiversary!
Sounds like you have everything under control. :-)

I also weigh every day and have a buffer of a kilo or so and then I know I have to have a look at what I am doing and either eat less or ramp up the exercise again.

Hooray for 3 years, and yes to the "safety zone" of stepping up vigilant eating. I think maybe "normal" people always did that?
    [I]HW: 240 lbs SW: 199 lbs GW: 140 lbs

    1 MO = 167.0 2 MO = 156.4 3 MO = 148.4 4 MO = 140.6

Happy with my weight; happy with my size; over-the-moon with my health!

Congratulations and happy surgiversary! Thanks for the thoughtful insights to your success. I really like your 4 pound zone and will use that down the road when I get to goal.
