I went in with my toes done in pink. All the nurses liked them, there was no problem. I dont put anything on my hands. The main thing they didnt want on me was lotion, deoderant, makeup, ear rings, rings, hair spray or anything holding my hair. I have Kaiser. Call your dr and see what they say.

I wish I would have thought of the smiley faces on my boobs... that is awesome!!!!

This post got me wondering since I am scheduled for surgery on Monday and had planned to get my nails and toes done tomorrow. So I called. Since I have acrylic nails they want me to take 1 off so it doesn't interfere with the pulse oximeter. Otherwise polish is fine. Its going to look weird but its just for a few days so its a sacrifice I can make.

They wanted no hand nail polish for me for an oxymeter. Check your own surgeon - seems to be different requirements for different sugeons.

I think it depends more on the hospital and their equipment than the Dr. I could have clear polish on fingers and toes.

I could not have any of that stuff on. I would ask the doctor or his nurse.

I had a manicure and pedicure (dark purple) before I went to Mexico for my surgery. I was never given any instructions not to have nail polish on but when I was done with surgery I noticed the polish on my right thumb had been taken off. I assume it was for oxymeter.
