Hi everybody! My name is Misty and I'm just starting out on this journey. I haven't even seen a doctor yet but my initial consultation is this coming Tuesday. I'm most nervous about getting insurance approval. I'm not a patient person & I know approval is a long process so I've got to practice some patience over here! Any advice on the paperwork to start gathering, etc. would be most appreciated!

I am not sure as I think each insurance is different. It depends on whether you have co-morbids, etc. Good luck with your journey. I am getting ready for my surgery in a couple of weeks.

Congratulations on starting your sleeve journey. I was a self pay so I can't speak to the arduous paperwork process, but I can tell you that it is well worth it. My life has completely changed for the better since my sleeve, I couldn't be more happy.

Take this time to really dig in and educate yourself on the surgery and what to expect. I think commitment is the biggest success factor. It is a lifestyle change, not a diet. There are lots of wonderful posters here who can answer your questions. Best of luck to you!

CraftyMary, I wish you the best on your surgery! I called my insurance company today and got the information that I’ll need to qualify. I spent part of the day driving around to places and getting my medical records.
