    Default Got my date

My surgery is October 9th so I start my pre-op diet tomorrow. I am excited but nervous of course. I know this is the best option for me but always second guessing. The post-op puree diet sounds terrible as far as what you can puree that will not be gross. I have tried the shakes and those are pretty good. Hoping all goes well.

    Hi Mary!

Good luck for the pre op diet! For me it was hard the first three days but then it was easy. Drink lots of water to flush the toxins!

Regarding puree food, I had several options, and since it's for such a short time, it was fine. I had a kind of Greek yogurt full of protein, split peas soup, made stews for the family and used a mixer to make it in a smooth consistency with meat and veggies for me...you can do a lot of things when you are at the pureed stage, no worries! plus when you will see the weight go down, your plate won't be an issue!

    take care!

Yay for you and good luck on your upcoming surgery! It has been one of the best decisions I've ever made for myself and wish I'd done it sooner. Things will change dramatically as far as your eating routine and hopefully you can find some type of exercise you enjoy as well, but it is well worth it.

I was so excited to eat real food by the time the pureed stage came around, that I had no problems whatsoever finding things I enjoyed eating. There are lots of recipes on here and on the web so try and check them out for ideas. Best of luck to you!

    Congratulations on getting your date!
I did the same as Sandra. I did soups and Greek yogurt and I mixed up meat until the consistency was soft and not gross to look at. You're not going to be on puree for long--whatever you do, I hear baby food is the worst. This is an exciting time!

I never pureed anything. I just ate soft stuff like ff refried beans, mashed potatoes, yogurt, etc. I agree, putting a meal in a blender should be saved for the nursing home. (I could do soups, but that was it). And don't buy baby food. I did - HUGE mistake. The shakes were my main diet early on.

You won't be second guessing when you are a regular sized, healthy person in no time! Enjoy!

I still have a few months before my surgery, and I'm definitely nervous after more than the surgery itself.

The puree’d stage isn’t great but if you really prep you will be fine, more than anything you may not even feel that hungry tbh. Most important is getting protein and keeping your fluid intake up. I’ve recently stumbled upon Lidl’s protein yoghurts. 200g but I eat 150g and save the difference. Protein shakes too, it’s all about being prepared. If your meal peeps prepared then everything takes care of itself!

Agree, I am not that nervous about the actual surgery. Not until I read some of these folks struggling
