    Default struggling!

    HI Everyone
I am well and am still down and still wearing the size 10's (UK) but i have gained a 2kg due to my activity levels having gone down because of my shoulder problem. I have not been able to get to the gym and do my usual workout as my shoulder was/is too painful. Today I went back to the musculo skeletal doctor and have had another injection and treatment and hopefully it will improve my mobility. I am almost at a frozen shoulder I am hoping to start personal training again next week and thereafter get back into my routine as i am going on a trek in 6 weeks time. TG for this forum as it helps to keep me on track. It also helps with everyone who has done well and motivation, so thank you to everyone.

I would walk, as long, fast and far as you can. I understand the shoulder problems, I've had 2 shoulder surgeries in the past 2 years. Walking has been my go to. I just had surgery 6 weeks ago, but I lost 30 lbs before surgery, mostly from low starch and walking.

HI Thanks for the message. I do walk regularly. Walking helps keep the weight down but not with the weight loss. I had been doing intensive weight training and since I have stopped I have lost muscle mass and now my skin is sagging. I am hoping after this new injection that I can get back to my weight training and lose the last few kg that I still want to lose. Well done on your loss.

I've had a bad shoulder since Christmas. I walk/hike. One doctor recommends shoulder replacement. I don't really know what to do. Sometimes it's OK AND other times super painful. I've tried cortisone shots and they only worked once. I'm looking into stem cell therapy but that's not covered by insurance and my friends call it "hocus pocus." Basically I don't want to put my life on hold for 6 months. (And miss ski season!)

I sympathize with you. Walking is fine, running not. I can even carry my back pack without too much pain. I am doing a trek in 5 weeks time in Ethiopia. I have bursitis, calcification and now a slight tear in the tendon. The first cortisone injection only lasted about a month, i am hoping this second one will last longer and help. I had cortisone injected into the area after he used saline to dilate the area. If this doesnt work then I will be referred to a orthopedic surgeon. I do not want to have surgery and the doctor I am seeing is trying to prevent me from getting a complete frozen shoulder. Its a nightmare. The other option is to have the calcification blasted and hope that eases the pain. I am a self paying patient as well and its expensive. I hope you get better soon. x

Ellie, you've got this. You are not a number. Just heal and be well!

Hang in there Ellie. It happens to the best of us with injuries. But you know that once you get your shoulder straight you have that ability to lose those 2 kg. Just work hard on not gaining during this time of inactivity. You got this!

    Sorry to hear this Ellie.
How much more do you want to loose?
It is what it is, don't stress.
As soon as your shoulder is healing you can start working out again.
For now your new job is to maintain the weight you have right now.
The rest will have to wait.
I hope your shoulder heals soon!
English is not my first language anymore, so I may and do make mistakes in my spelling, or say things oddly. Please ask me, if you want any clarifications.

    HI Simonne
I would like to lose another 4kg. I am feeling allot better since the injection and now have a little movement in my shoulder, so hopefully I can get back into the gym. Thanks for the support and encouragement.

You too, feel better! I can still carry a back pack and use hiking sticks, so I am getting a little upper body workout, but not much.
