    Default Week 2 emotions

Hi all, I am on week 2 post op and I am feeling really agitated and snappy.

I am especially snappy towards the one person who is supporting me the most, my wife.

I can’t help it, I just feel snappy, irritable and it’s not fair to stress my wife out who is 32 weeks pregnant with twins!!!

Is there anyone out there that’s experienced this? Any tips, remedies or advice to help me please?

    Thankyou kindly guys
    John

Many, many people go through some roller coaster emotions during the first few months. Hang in there. I was lucky bc I was always euphoric but many people do have high emotional swings. You have to remember with the rapid weight loss your hormones are all over the place. Things will get better.

32 weeks pregnant with twins?!? Be nice! You can do it!

I don't know about all that emotional roller coaster stuff as I was happy the whole journey. Just knowing I was on my way to being a regular sized person made me totally excited.

You have so much to look forward to, time to get that positive attitude going and get excited. New babies and a healthier you!

I think we have all experienced the emotional roller coaster in the first couple of weeks.
A lot of that has to do with the detoxing of your body.
    Kind of withdrawal symptoms.
All the residues of hormones and old medication, that were stored in the fat cells, now become loose canons.
The best you can do right now, is drink a lot to flush all the garbage out of your body.
Hang in there, this will pass.

    Time to get a grip!

Everything in your life is working out.

Hopes that you had are now a reality come on, you have this!

I know all the emotional stuff is there but if you feel snappy write it down and release it by venting how your adjustment to the new relationship with food is having an effect on you.

You can keep your paper with your feeling's written down or you can let go of them by burning them.

I did this a lot in my life it is a release.

I know what you are describing - it should be the honeymoon period I know, so... why are you feeling like this?

So many complex things are happening with this surgery but your mindset needs to be kind to you and your wife and your family.
Write it down and let go! do it for you its a safe way of not eating your words if you know what I mean.

But keep it very private as words can and do hurt be careful that it is just for your eyes only so you can deal with how you feel.

I would say positive affirmations such as

Thank you for my healthy surgery
Thank You for my weight loss
Thank you for my well being
    Thank you for my wife
    Thank you for our home

I do this it reminds me to think in a different way and boy does it help!

    All the Best!
    x

Thankyou very much everyone, I agree maybe writing down the feelings so it takes concentration to vent them instead of actually aiming these at loved ones.

And yes I have noticed only positivity since joining.

Hi John, congrats on the sleeve and the weight loss! Twins, oh man how sweet is that??? I have identical twin sisters and they are a trip, love them. It is totally normally to feel a little 'agitated' and around week 3 I was a total witch myself. Everything seemed to get on my last nerve. I can't explain exactly why, I did well in surgery and post op, I was just agitated. Thank goodness this lasted about 2 weeks at most, if I recall correctly.

It's hard to remember it because I've had such a feeling of euphoria and well being since, and am still going strong. As all the other wonderful posters said above, I think a lot of it is 'detoxing' from all the garbage we'd been used to eating. Once I started taking my vitamins at week 2 I felt so much better and once I was cleared to get back to serious exercise after week 6 I felt like a new person. Truly, I think you'll find yourself mentally adjusting and never feeling better than you will soon.

Hang in, you've got this and will be able to care for those little ones much easier! Awesome stuff.

Hey John, hormones, anesthesia, pain medication and the emotional effects of surgery are very real! Take a breath, picture yourself where you want to be, get some sunshine, and remember, "Be Kind to Yourself" as well as the mother of your future twins (how exciting)! It really does get better day by day and you'll figure it out along the way Best of luck on all aspects of the wonderful and exciting future ahead for you and your family!!

The ones closest to us are often the ones to bear the brunt of our emotions.
You both will have emotions all over the place.

Just think how wonderful it's going to be when you are fit and healthy and running around after those twins - and run you will :-)

You need to both support each other and maybe, just maybe, your wife needs to be able to focus on herself and your babies at the moment. Is there someone else you can vent to (we are always here to listen!) - can you go outside and yell at no-one in particular for a bit :-) I always found that a good cry helps - yes, men too!

You are doing great, and you must be so excited about the upcoming birth.
Good luck with everything coming your way - you can do it!

You think you've got emotions? You better go hug your wife. I was a grumpy beast too for a while after surgery, but if someone had come at me while I was massively pregnant (and with twins!) they wouldn't live to see another day. Suck it up! Then go massage her feet.

Thankyou guys, yes day by day I feel it’s getting easier to deal with certain things and I am concentrating on each phase and my next phase is the 3rd week where I can eat purée type foods!!! I am looking at all different types ad what I can eat etc. It’s giving me focus away from the negativity too. My wife is doing an amazing job, 32 weeks pregnant and much stronger mentally and physically than me. I will vent but just not at my wife and I can tell when the signs of it building up come too so I know to release them by talking or saying out loud I’m feeling this way or that way.

    Thankyou, John
