    Default Tanzanian Safari

OK, this really isn't weight related except I don't think I could have sat on three flights for 30+ hours fat! After our climb we did a safari which was absolutely amazing. Here are a few photos taken with my phone, a fancy camera would have been nice, but whatever. For some reason I can only attach a few. After flying from Atlanta to Bangkok, I vowed never to fly that far again. If I need to see that part of the world, I will sail or do long trip with short segments separated by a few days.
All my silly complaining aside, looks like you had an amazing experience! Good for you!

Amazing photos. So envious. I can relate to the long haul journeys. Flying from Perth Western Australia to England still takes us 21 hours of flight time not including the changeover. Rely relish wandering the airport in Dubai to stretch out.

I cannot fly fat or thin, unless I grow wings! Haven't been on a plane since 1988.

    Great photos.
So glad that you had a wonderful time.

Being thinner definitely makes flying a lot more comfortable.

What a great Summer!!! thanks for those wonderful photos!!

I know flying is always the worth part of my job, and working 4 years in NZ got me so fed up with flying...go to Wellington from Paris...almost 36h to get there, it was bad. And during those four years I had so many meeting, and things (funerals...) to do in Paris, I stopped counting the number of trips...I was huge and even in business (when I paid extra) it was still hard.
Now a 12h or even 14h flight is a "short" flight and since I'm not that big anymore, a coach seat even the smaller one, is fine. I always feel bad for the fellow obese passengers who are squeezed in their sardine seats...been there done that... hope never ever go back to that again!

But it IS weight related. I travel quite a bit and most of today’s seats are small for healthy sized folks! I can so relate to your long flight. I traveled 36 hours a couple of years ago from Cape Town South Africa to Johannesburg SA to Atlanta to Portland OR to Redmond OR and did it at my heaviest weight. Business class would have cost $12,000 so I flew coach. Exhausting!! I also found it humiliating to have to ask for a seat belt extender. The seats on small airplanes while traveling between South Africa, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Namibia and Zambia were even worse. While I fly first when possible on long hauls, I’m so very thankful to fit comfortably (well as comfortable as is possible these days) in coach.
The other added benefit of being at a healthy weight is that when you’re obese it raises the risk of deep vein thrombosis and pulmonary embolism. On long hauls this is especially a concern.

Thanks for sharing. Awesome pics. I love animals so that just made my heart happy. I know what you mean about fat flying. The flights I have taken post sleeve have been a million times more comfortable then when I was filling up that seat like a sardine. I love all the room. LOL.
