    Default On a soapbox today

To the people who have messaged me asking where I’ve been, I’m afraid to say the reason for my absence is not a positive one. I met someone on this site who I thought was a friend, and they ended up treating me very badly. Because of this reason, I decided to stay off the site for a while to figure out what my priorities are. But, I’m back! I’m afraid I often don’t have much to say because I haven’t experienced the success everyone else has with their weight loss. I knew it would be a struggle as having an addiction and then trying to quit cold turkey takes a lot of willpower and I’m sadly lacking in that. On top of that, I work 2 jobs and often care for my grandson while his dad attends nursing school, so exercise is not a priority most days. I know what needs to be done to win this battle, I’m just not completely there yet. But everyone on this site are examples of what hard work can get you and the support we provide each other is essential to our success. I rejoice in all the successes of my fellow sleevers and hope one day to be able to brag about my weight loss too. BTW, great job on your weight loss everyone. You are rocking this journey!

Oh honey, you are rocking too!!
What you are going through and what you have already accomplished, is amazing!
I really, really mean that from the bottom of my heart.

As if taking care of yourself is not hard enough, you also take care of others in your life.
That alone is a job and then you have two more jobs!
I applaud you, I don't know how I would do that.
And quitting an addiction on top of all that, gosh... words fail me, I am in awe.

Sometimes it seems, that things are never going to end, but in my experience (I can say that because I am old, lol) they do at some point.
You are doing the best you can, that is all that you can do and that is enough.
No one can expect more than that!
Take good care of yourself, this too will pass...
    xoxoxo

Oh and btw, there is someone new on the board that wants to know about sleeves after a lap band, so you are needed here!
English is not my first language anymore, so I may and do make mistakes in my spelling, or say things oddly. Please ask me, if you want any clarifications.

That's too bad that you met someone here and got treated that way. I thought everyone was great, have to rethink that.

Sorry about that but you do rock and we need your expertise!

Bellagirl, I am saddened that you experience such a crappy thing! The world still surprises me at 67. But you are obviously resilient and determined! And very pretty. Just keep doing one thing at a time, even if you have too many one things. Try to take some time for you (yes, almost impossible with your schedule) but even if its a few minutes of day dreaming, or a candle, or some lovely essential oil scent....if you PM me, I will send you one! And you're welcome to "vet" me, but I'm pretty harmless. <3

    Bellagirl,

You have A LOT to contribute. KUDOS to you for your life successes! You’re rocking it along with the rest of us...One Day At A Time.

I’m sooo sorry to hear you were treated badly by one of our community. There are unfortunately all kinds of predators out there. You did what you needed to do for yourself and that says a lot.

I for one am very happy you’re back and grateful for your input ;-)

Hey! It's nice to meet you! First... WHAT!!!??? You are down 45lbs!!!! In the past I only had dreams of losing that much while fighting tooth and nail to just lose 5lbs. I would have given up quite a bit to lose 45 in about 4 months!! Mercy lady with all that you have going on I would just say to SLOW ROLL your weight loss and give yourself some breaks about it.

Secondly I know EXACTLYYYYYYY what you are talking about. I was a bit nerdy in the past and hung around on gaming forums and online games and I met someone who I decided to meet up with and they were a huge $%&#@!!!!!!! So I am 100% on board with you there. But life is like that no matter WHERE you meet a fellow human! This too shall pass... and they will be just another one of those bumps in your past that only tripped you up for a minute. Keep ever forward!!!.. Reinvest in yourself when you can and hug tight to your achievements! Even if they came in baby steps!

Bellagirl, so very sorry that you encountered a bad person here. Unfortunately the world (online and real life) is full of them and you have to have your guard up at all times. What a bummer. But......there are also good people who are here for the right reasons. To share our struggles successes and to encourage each other.

You have done a wonderful job and every single person is different and lose at a different rate. You've got such a full and busy lifestyle and it's not always easy to concentrate 110% on yourself. That's okay, slow and steady wins the race. Good things come to those who help others. You've been a pleasure to follow along and I hope you can post when you have time, we missed you!

    Hey Lisa,

You are only five months out, I don't know why you say you are not successful! You are doing great!!
Obesity is an hormonal disease and it's not about willpower to lose weight, it's fighting a disease...the sleeve is a very powerful help!

Ignore the one who did hurt you in here, I find people on this forum are generally nice and fun and I'm a "regular" in here for five year now...

Like our friends said, there is unhappy campers everywhere, what's great online is you don't have to face them, that's much easier than facing nasty family members (got a few of those unfortunately)...

so ignore the mean people and come back regularly!! it does help on many levels to have people to "talk to" about something not many people around you share or understand..bariatric surgery!

    AND YOU ARE ROCKING TOO!!!!
    Take care!

I can not say enough good things about all of you. I hesitated to even say anything but I was so ANGRY, it just came out. I have had little support after having this surgery and to be able to turn to all of you has been a phenomenal experience. I can’t say thank you enough and you truly hold a special place in my heart. The kind words and messages are just what I needed!

I am so sorry someone treated you badly. While I have found most people to be super supportive there is always going to be some bad apples. Sorry you found one. As for the weight loss..45 lbs is a lot. Don't compare yourself to others. We all lose at different ratees and we all have our own demons. While some people breeze right along, eat terribly, don't exercise they still lose weight. Others have to fight for every single ounce they lose. And then most people fall into losing as long as they follow the rules with minor slipups. Hang in there. Work through your demons. You got this. You are AMAZING and do not let that bad experience ruin your time on the forum. Hugs. XOXOXO

Yipieeeeee, so happy that you're back with us Lisa! Don't feel bad about sharing what happened, you needed to get that off your chest.

I didn't tell anyone else about my surgery except the hubs, so this place has been a tremendous support tool for me. Plus, I also feel compelled to try and offer encouragement, support and help (not that I have a ton of experience) to those who are considering surgery or who have just had it. I don't know what I'd have done if not for the awesome regulars who care enough to "Pay It Forward" months and years after their surgeries! It's what keeps the site going IMO.
