Default One Pound At A Tim

Surgery completed 8-7-19 I am still very excited to start this new life. The first couple of days were pretty uncomfortable due to gas. After walking it out don’t really even remember the pain. Was on clear liquids 8 days prior to surgery and lost 24 lbs since surgery have lost 5 lbs and still on clear liquids just adding the protein water. I am not complaining at all but thought I would have lost more. Today’s weight is the same as yesterday? Never been more motivated and am committed to following all direction from my surgeon. I am happy for everyone else as well keep up the good work!

Welcome and congratulations on your recent surgery. It really is one pound at a time, some people may lose faster than others, but it is slow and steady that wins the race. I have lost gradually over time, never big amounts at a time. I did have a stall at week 3/4 and then again around 10 weeks. I keep a food journal and write down everything I eat and drink. During the stalls I looked back and saw something I was/was not doing that affected my weight loss. It might be a good tool for you as well.

It is going to be an exciting time for you and I wish you continued success.

    Hi, welcome here!
    Glad you are doing fine.
Now go and hide that scale for the first three weeks.
    Really, I mean it!
    Hide the darned thing.
You will weigh in at your first doctors appointment.
That is soon enough, that scale can make you crazy the first couple of weeks...
Just keep following your bari-teams orders and those pounds will come off soon enough.
English is not my first language anymore, so I may and do make mistakes in my spelling, or say things oddly. Please ask me, if you want any clarifications.

    Welcome to the sleeved side!

WOW! 29 lbs lost pre and post sleeve is AMAZING! When was the last time you lost 5 lbs in 5 days?

This is a marathon, not a sprint.

Your body is still freaking out and adjusting. HIDE THE SCALE...it’s NOT your friend right now. Take measurements and pictures. Log everything that passes your lips (I still do this and will continue to do it). Concentrate on healing your brand new tummy.

Keep that motivation and commitment going. You’re doing a GREAT job!

The Joy is in the Journey

If my math is right you've lost 29 pounds in 13 days. That is incredible! Glad you're not complaining. You're off to a terrific start. Keep following your surgeon's directions and you'll get there before you know it.

Agree with others. DITCH THE SCALE!! It is only a number anyway! During the next several months, you will experience so many new things, that you will soon forget how insignificant those numbers were anyway. You have the tool now, work it perfectly, and the results will take care of themselves. Once you are further down the road, the scale will come back and will be a very good tool to keep you on the straight and narrow, but for now, ENJOY!!

    HW: 408 lbs
    Pre-Op: 370.7 lbs-37.3 lbs
    DOS: 354.6 lbs-53.4 lbs
    2 Wk: 332.4 lbs-75.6 lbs
    1 Mo:323.6 - 83.4 lbs
    2 Mo:310.4 - 97.6 lbs
    3 Mo: 297.4 - 110.6 lbs
    4 Mo: 285 - 123 lbs
    5 Mo: 276 - 132 lbs
    6 Mo: 268 - 140 lbs
    7 Mo: 262 - 146 lbs
    8 Mo: 254 - 154 lbs
    9 Mo: 251 - 157 lbs
    10 Mo: 242 - 166 lbs

You are doing great. Keep to the programme and everything will be ok.
If you can hide the scale then do it. I couldn't and to this day I still weigh daily. That's what works for me - you will find what works for you :-)

I lost kind of slow at first. I think partially due to the fluid retention. I also hit first stall at 2 weeks and was devastated. But I kept following the rules and chugging along. I lost all my weight and actually got lower than I thought I would. Keep the faith. The sleeved life is amazing!
