    Default Pain Question

    Hello-

I had my surgery on July 24, 2019. I am just under two weeks of recovery, and for the last week, I’ve had pain around my large incision site. There is no appearance of infection or leakage. The pain comes when I am transitioning from sitting to standing and vice versa, and it radiates to my left back/left side. Coughing/sneezing also hurts the front incision area. I have my follow up appointment soon, but I’m wondering if anyone else has experienced this post surgery. It has been depressing because it is made me very slow and apprehensive to begin going out and doing stuff because of the pain from sitting to standing and how slow I am to do those things. Holding a pillow against my stomach area helps, but I’m just looking to see if others have experienced this and have any suggestions.

It's hard to tell because he all have different pain "sensors" and don't handle pain the same way.
If you need to cough or sneeze, hold your stomach. It will avoid extra pain.
The larger incision is where the extract the stomach, so it does explain more pain in this area.
I had a sleeve 3 1/2 years ago, and just had a stomach repair at the end of June. Pains are different since the surgeries are different, but for the sleeve all pain were gone after 3/4 weeks, here I'm at week 5 and still have pain and can't lift anything heavy yet. My post op is soon, I'm not worried, but if you have any doubt about your safety, you should get an early check up!
    Take care!

I had pain in that area and when I had my first post-op appointment, they ended up having to drain a pocket of fluid that had formed under that incision. It felt better immediately. I'd call the surgeon just to make them aware. They may want you to come in to check you. Good luck!

Please call and/or visit your Dr.

As Sandra said, we all have different pain level tolerances.

Even if there’s no appearance of a problem, there may be something going on inside.

    Please keep us updated.

My big incision hurt for a bit but it eventually went away. The main thing is just make sure it is not infected. Look for swelling, redness, fever, pus, and any kind of odor. Hang in there. As long as the pain is not unbearable, it is most likely normal.
