    Default I'll Miss you guys!

Wow, three weeks without social media. I'll survive, just hope the camera we bought with extra batteries works. We leave Sunday for Tanzania. Please pray we keep safe, free of medical issues, and make it to the top of Kilimanjaro! We do have the deal that if one of us has to go down for any reason the other will keep going. Altitude sickness is probably the main reason people have to come down, as the top is 19,000 feet.

Super excited I got to 131 pounds, my goal was 130 by Africa, but hey I have a few more days to lose that last pound. I was 146 in February.

They also advised no exercise the week before the trip so I've been chilling and packing. And on the hike they say to eat all you possibly can. We will see how that goes. I may fill my backpack with leftovers I can't eat at meals.

    Ooo, super exiting!
    Aren't you nervous?
My thoughts and prayers go with you and your husband.
I wish you a wonderful experience and you will get to that summit, both of you!
Keep that in mind and stay positive all the way, like you always remind us.
With that attitude there is nothing you can't overcome.
    The best of luck!
Do we really have to wait three weeks before we hear from you?
Isn't there like a live webcam or something?
    Love,
    Simonne

Wow, sounds totally amazing!! You will have a wonderful, exciting trip. Can't wait to hear all about your adventures.

My son & I will be leaving in a month for South Africa. Nothing as climbing Kilimanjaro, but we will be on Safari. We'll need to exchange pictures.

    Take care,

sraeber, good luck on your journey. My husband and son have climbed Killi and other mountains. They give you allot of pasta and rice and apparently uou need to eat in order to have energy at such altitudes, but you also don't have much appetite. Just make sure you take on fluids and be-careful and aware of altitude sickness. It will be an experience and I look forward to the photos.

Where in SA are you going. The food in SA is excellent and as protein is your first choice you will be spoilt for choice and the meat is excellent. Enjoy your trip.

Wishing you a wonderful trip and hope you “conquer” the mountain. I had a good friend who owned a travel agency. He always said, “If you only get to two other continents go to Africa, then go to Africa.” Spent an amazing month traveling through SA, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Namibia and Zambia, but haven’t been to Tanzania. Safe travels!

I DID IT! I hit 130.6 at Weight Watchers this morning, but got home and weighed my dress which was 9 ounces. So I made my 130 my Africa goal!! 10 pounds under the weight I'd been maintaining for 4 years.

Thanks for all the encouragement everyone! We can do this!
