    Default Day 3 Post Surgery

    Good Morning,

Well, I made it through another day. I found myself to be extremely tired the last 24 hours so I am listening to my body and resting.
I also found that anytime I take a pill or just drink a sip I feel much better if I stand and walk around. If I sit down too quickly I get nauseous and a little bit of the water comes back out. My new habit is to takes some sips and walk around for 5 minutes. So far no nausea when I do that. Good Luck to all who on are on this journey. Please post any tips that may have helped you through this early phase.

    Carol P.

My best tip for that first week is to nap all you can! Sounds like you're doing great, keep it up and have fun.

My best tip is to listen to your body, which can become a good habit ongoing. When you're tired, rest, walk, sip and make sure you're breathing deeply to keep that "chest" open. Roll the shoulders and as the coordinator teaches at our pre op class, "Shake It Off" like the Taylor Swift song; moving your body to rid it of the trapped gas makes moving from phase to phase easier. It's kind of something we don't stress enough but deep breathing, keeping your body moving and resting along with sipping and sipping in the early days helps tremendously! It gets easier and I personally took this time to make all kinds of plans for when I lost the weight and wrote them down in a journal that I still reference even 8 years later

    Continued success!

    Best tips are above ^^^

Sometimes I had to remind myself to just breathe...LOL ;-) It’s like a reflex not to breathe deeply because I didn’t know what to expect from my small stomach.

You’re figuring it out already by listening to your body. Sip, walk, rest, repeat. Every day is a little easier.

Now the fun begins...planning how you’re going to enjoy this amazing journey ;-)

Congrats Carol, sounds like you're learning how to deal already. It is a live and learn scenario and each day you will understand all the changes going on with your body better. I also found that moving/walking/exercising is essential to me.

You are off to a good start!! I think you have lots of good advice already. One thing that I had not heard prior to my surgery was that some people do better with different temperatures. I had a hard time with cold fluids and did a lot better with warm or hot fluids. It was that way for a few weeks. It made a huge difference. And another thing is take lots of progress pics (at least every other week) and measurements so that you can look back and see how amazing your body is. Reach out if you have any questions. Everyone is here to help you along your way.
