    Default The Look

While eating out, no one seems to care that I don't eat that much. I don't think anyone notices.

But a drink, that's another thing! "What would you like to drink with that?" "Nothing." "Would you like water?" "No." Then I get "the look" like I'm crazy. We must be the only people on the planet who don't drink with meals.

    LOL!

You should see the looks and eye rolls I get when I ask for a glass of ice cubes, no water, please just ice cubes...it’s PRICELESS!

Waiting staff just don't seem to understand that I don't want a drink.
Usually I just accept a glass of water and don't drink it - it's the easier option.

Neither my partner or I drink any alcohol now so it makes for a much cheaper night out ;-) The most exciting we get is when he orders a sparkling water - lol!

So I always get a glass of water. I will take 2 sips of it right away and then wait for my food to arrive. Occasionally I do have an additional sip but rarely.

I usually get the water just to avoid the "look". I remember early on when I couldn't even think of having liquid w/meals and was at a Chinese restaurant, they looked at me strangely throughout the entire time we were there and kept coming back with the water pitcher. I was so frustrated that I wanted to leave, it was my anxiety about the liquid/food thing though and they were just being customer service focused I learned to just take it and be done with this matter!

That is interesting. I've never been questioned about my lack of drink, but always about the amount of food that is left on my plate. AI'm always asked if something was wrong with the meal. Crazy.

That is always the same with me, they're always afraid, I don't like the food.
And some restaurants don't do doggy bags.

As for the drinks: I know that in your restaurants offering water is obligatory.
That is not the case in Europe.
So when you ask for a simple, plain glass of water, they will sell you some sort of fancy, expensive bottle with water.
They don't serve tap water, not even at your request.
So, I don't order anything to drink, and yes, I get "the look".
    Which I totally ignore...
English is not my first language anymore, so I may and do make mistakes in my spelling, or say things oddly. Please ask me, if you want any clarifications.
