Do you remember what dosage you took when you had iron poisoning?

Usually when I'm in anemia in France doctors recommend 100mg per day, when I was in the US I was told 200mg!! 200 is way too much. Indeed we don't absorb that dosage, only 1/3 is in average is absorbed by the body, even less for people like me (with GI track issues like IBS, Chron etc).

I never took 200 per day (seemed too extreme for me) but when anemia was bad I did go up to 100.
At 100 my IBS was triggered badly, so I decreased the dosage after one week, waited one week, tried again etc.but that was with pills from the doc, I take other kinds for a few years now, usually vegan iron, Ferrochel is the one my tummy prefers, I also take the fumarate to alternate.

Currently taking : Source Naturals, Vegan True, Iron Support, 180 Tablets (2 per day) and I switch with my fav because really small tablets : VegLife, Vegan Iron, 25 mg, 100 Tablets (I take 3 per day)

Usually I take around (in average) 60gr per day, one pill mid morning, one pill mid afternoon.

After reading a study made two years ago where they said that taking iron once every two days is better than everyday, because it's not that bad for the guts who have time to heal in between, apparently the absorption would be even better. I'm currently trying that..

And for the past few weeks I'm also trying patches (for the multi, does have iron) So I'm covered anyway when no taking my iron pills. So far not sure it's doing much....will see on the long run!

I hope you will get your infusions soon, that would solve everything!!

    Take care!

I was taking 65mg tablets four times a day. Still haven't started iron infusions yet. Turned out that the hold up has been because they needed a referral from my primary care doctor but nobody cared to inform anyone of that until the nurse at the ob/gyn office got on a rant about why an appointment hasn't been made yet. I'm gonna call again today to find out if any progress has been made. In the meantime, I've been forcing myself to stay active and eating right. I've not done that over the last couple months so I've been making that a priority. I'm so ready to get this part behind me but I'm trying to be patient but proactive in making sure they're doing their jobs.

Been there, done that with the fibroids. Full hysterectomy was the answer.
