The obesity code and the two other books Dr Fung wrote after that one are really interesting. Because it goes against what I learned in part of my nut studies, and that part I didn't like because I know for myself, carbs are a big issue and eating "too much" even on low calories would keep me from losing weight. His book about longevity is very interesting too....I do believe that fasting can help our metabolism, if done right and not in excess. French people traditionally don't snack all day and the new generation is getting fatter by the minute with all that snacking all day!! (same thing, in my training the "6 small meals per day for weight loss" was one of the big thing I disagreed with!).

Anyway, I will look at the two other books, look great too!
    Thanks Cindy!

I totally agree with you about Dr Fung and too much carbs.

I subscribe to Bariatric Foodie and have since about 5 months out for the recipes.

I find it very interesting that Nikki (aka Bariatric Foodie) is still learning about herself and sharing her findings 10+ years after surgery.

To me it just goes to show we’re never done with learning. ;-)

I do feel too that we are never done with learning!!

But for real, the more I learn, the more I feel I don't know enough!! it's ridiculous but I noticed that most classes in my nut curriculum were focused on specific diseases and never included bariatric (but we learned about everything else under the sun! nut for cancer, older population with dental issues, people with celiac etc etc and yet nothing about what I wanted to learn! same thing for naturopathy...it feels like I can only make my own learning program at that point! I found a few universities who offer a type of specialized post-grad degrees and yet the curriculum is really superficial (for my taste and years of research)...I think bariatric is just too recent and most universities don't really offer what I'm looking for...

Anyway, I'm learning more with my current naturopathy curriculum compared to the nut one...that's already something (yet a few classes are just not my cup of tea and just too "new age" for me) and I like the option of focusing on what we like, I'm more about phytotherapy, essential oil and Traditional Chinese Medicine...we are never too old to learn!!

Absolutely agree... there’s so much more I don’t know. The more I learn, the more I want to learn.

I’m shocked that Nutritionist university studies haven’t “caught up” with bariatrics. What about all the Nutritionists that are part of Bari Teams? Where do they get their specialty studies and training? Are they all Post-grad degrees with little or no training? Yikes! That doesn’t make me feel very confident, even though I have a lot of faith in my Nut. She has 10 + years of experience.

Whatever studies you are doing has given you insight and wisdom way beyond anything I’ve been able to learn on my own.

Whatever knowledge you have accumulated is invaluable. I for one am very grateful that you share your experience and knowledge with us ;-)

Cindy you are so sweet!! thank you!!

I hope at some point, when I will be done with working overseas (probably in 10/15 years), to open a practice (part time), and be able to help a little more people than just friends and family.

I've been really lucky so far to be able to help and see positive results on my family and friends, and sharing that experience with more people seems the right thing to do, especially after dealing with so many useless doctors who do more arm than anything else. Sometimes a little change in life style can go a long way and can help to avoid meds and their side effects!!

Anyway, I'm not done learning, I have a lot more classes to take and one interesting program is in India, I will need to manage a full month off work....hopefully I will work out something in 2020/2021!

    Yay for Sandra!

As for the first part of the quote: sadly, yes, I really think so.
The stupid things that are told here in the Netherlands really blow my mind.
And not everyone with wls wants to be educated...
They choose to believe these stupid guide lines, they are given.
No wonder so many people regain after the surgery, now I understand those statistics.

    Knowledge is power!
English is not my first language anymore, so I may and do make mistakes in my spelling, or say things oddly. Please ask me, if you want any clarifications.

    You’re so welcome, Sandra ;-)

I look forward to hearing all about what you’ll learn in India.
