I dont think it will be hard to start slow, your body will most likely not let you go to fast or far.

I get where you’re coming from...walking is my favorite form of exercise ;-)

I just returned from my second 5 mile walk for the day.

I’m current in the waiting room now waiting for registration to call me. I’m only a little nervous but mostly excited. I can’t wait for it to be over. I’m not sure but I think they’re going to be taking my gall bladder out as well. So hopefully it won’t be too much more pain. I’m also having a biopsy done too after the surgery so I’ll probably be out for a while but I’m looking forward to starting this new journey.

Well the surgery went well although I’m in tons of pain and while I was in the recovery room my mom fell at home so they ended up bringing her to the ER but we’re both home now. The pharmacy is supposed to be delivering my medicine later but I’ve been doing broken up Tylenol for the pain and I already have a follow up scheduled with my PCP and the surgeon. They said I could shower today but I don’t really feel like it but thankfully when I do we have a transfer bench that my mom uses so I can use it to make showering easier. I’m going to stay hydrated as much as possible. Thankfully I am already getting some gas to come out the back end which is what the nurses wanted and the surgeon said the pain only last 3-5 days which I hope is true. Anyone else post-op that remembers how long the pain lasted?

    Hope all is going well.

I was lucky not to have any pain as such. I was uncomfortable but once home (2 nights in hospital) I didn't take any pain relief at all.
Having said that if you are in any pain please take the meds - that is what they are there for. :-)

Rest up, sleep when you feel like it, walk when and as far as you can - little distances to start with....and be kind to yourself.

I did take some Tylenol because the Ocycodone they prescribed hadn’t been delivered yet. The pain is less that it was except when I get up from bed or a chair. The part that hurts most is what I’m guessing is the port or the biggest wound on me. It’s painful and sore which is why it hurts more. I’ve been walking around the house a little bit and making sure I get my protein in. I’ve also been coughing up phlegm which also makes it hurt. I just wish I could sleep for longer than a hour or two at a time. I know sleep will help as much as moving around will. I hope to feel better soon so I can move around more without any issues. Because my mom and I have appts coming up and I don’t want that to be a problem. Especially since I have to push her wheelchair around which the nutritionist said wouldn’t be a problem in a few weeks as long as I’m not lifting anything or doing core exercises although every time I get out of the chair or bed I feel like I’m doing crunches. But I know will get better. I just have to wait.

Glad to hear your surgery went well, but so sorry your Mom hurt herself. Darn! I did use my prescription pain meds the first week, which is unusual for me, I don't normally even fill them. It was easier to use the liquid hydrocodone than trying to swallow crushed up Tylenol for me. Don't feel bad about using it if you need it. Pain is normal, you just went through a big surgery. Keep on sipping, walking as you can and you will feel better each day.

Yay for you and welcome to the sleeve lifestyle.

I wish I could get the liquid version instead I’m cracking open Tylenol in half like peanuts since I have no easy way to crush them. I’m going to sleep early and hopefully the melatonin I took will help me sleep for longer than an hour at a time. I know sleep helps the body heal and I’m all for sleeping in. My mom slept most of the day today and only woke up for food and her medicine. I made sure to get my 50grams of protein so that will help as well. I just can’t wait for the port area to not hurt so much. Every time I get up from the chair or bed it pulls it and it hurts. I’m usually a fast healer so I hope it won’t bother me too much longer. It’s the only problem I’m having besides remembering to sip slowly to prevent chest pains nausea.
