    Red face Hello Sleevers

Help, I am 18 months post OP and have been stress eating again. I realize what's happening, and am working on stopping. I am up 5 lbs over 4 months, doesn't sound like much, but that's the way it starts. Any suggestions on getting back on track. Has anyone else been through this? I actually lost more than doctor suggested, but really wanted to lose more. Thanks in advance for your support.

I think almost all of us have gone through this. Maintenance is tough. But if you weigh daily and catch it before it gets to be too much, you'll be fine. Just review your original materials and go back to how you should be eating. Cut the crap. (You already know that!). You can easily lose that 5 pounds by returning to the sleeve lifestyle.

I just came back from a week of babysitting 3 grandkids with a 2 pound gain. It ALWAYS happens when I'm away from my typical routine. But within two or three days I can get it off. You can too!

I went through the same thing as well, and put on a lot more than 5 pounds. I am back on track now, since I started Journaling again. I document everything I eat, I even document my "bad" days. That way I can look back and try to analyze why I wasn't on track. I am also planning on going to the support group, provided by my surgeon's office. Remember where and why you started this journey, and pull yourself back in. You can, and will do this, it is a life long journey for all of us. I am glad you are reaching out now, I wish I had before I put on almost 25 pounds. Good luck, you got this.....

Thank you for the support. I needed this today. I saw my surgeon and he said the same thing. I was stressed about work, quit tracking food and not taking time to take care of myself. I promise to myself, I will do this!!!

    Thanks again everyone.

At least you know you've been stress eating. If you are stressed right now, do you increase your magnesium intake? it could help calm you down. Symptoms of magnesium deficiency is muscle spasms or cramps, I always get those when my magnesium is low, my lip or eye lid could shake too.

If you lost more than what you surgeon was projecting, your body might be trying to find your new set point. So don't worry too much about the weight, if you eat clean it will go away. But I noticed often that when I was going to lose more, after a long stall my weight would be up 4 pounds, down 6 etc.. until it did stabilize at a lower weight.

Great idea!!! I have been getting foot cramps on the top of my feet, whi ch I have never done. I will start t ru ing magnesium. I appreciate the mention of stalling, trying to get to new set point. I will keep that in mind.

Thank you so much for the guidance.

    Back to basics!

I hope you’ve saved all your pre-op and post-op information.

I log everything that passes my lips in MFP. It keeps me accountable.

I can start my day over again, as many times as I choose to. “Mindfulness” is my word of the day, every day ;-)

You can do this! We’re cheering you on!

At nearly 2 years out I still keep a record of what I eat and when. I also still weigh and measure my food to make sure that my eyes are not "deceiving" me with my portions :-) I also record my intake on an app so I can keep an eye on the nutritional value and make sure that I am always meeting my protein needs.
I'm sure that you can get back on track quickly and all will be good.

i think everyone has given great advice. I am also around 18 months out and seem to be stuck on a weight, going up one day and down the next. I try and track my food. I too am a stress eater and I have had a very stressful past few months, however i weigh myself everyday ( actually about 4/5 times a day, I know obsessive and not good) and that is what keeps me on track. When I see the scale move a few hundred grams I go back to basics . I have reached my goal weight I set originally but I would like to lose a few more kilograms. Always check your vitamin levels as well, as they play a big part in how we eat. I also think exercise is essential. Good luck with your next step and I am sure you will be successful.

My surgical team does not believe in any pouch test. But they said it won't hurt anything; if you want to do it fine. just call it a "mind reset" instead of a "pouch reset." But I would recommend just going back to how a sleeved person should eat. Much more fun than drinking shakes all day!!
