Default 6.6 Until I'm back at goal--Traveling to Italy HELP!

Still plugging along on WW. I'm a slow loser, but as my title says, I'm 6.6 pounds away from goal. At the end of the month, I'm traveling to Malta and Rome. Now, normally when I travel, I take jellybeans and a couple of sandwiches because airplane food is garbage! Now, I'm already planning and thinking of what I can take with me on the plane for my snacks. I know that I can make a low point sandwich, but can you give me some ideas for snacks? I was thinking of popping some popcorn and put it in a baggie, take a small container of fruit. I'm just looking for some ideas, so anything you guys suggest will be welcome! Also, while in Italy, I do plan on being mindful, but I also plan on eating some pasta and gelato!

You will walk so much (especially in Rome) I don't think you'll have to worry that much about what you eat. Just eat the best you can and HAVE FUN!

I don't think I EVER walked so much as my two days in Rome. Ever. Bring good walking shoes!! It was so much fun, every corner you turned around you'd see something amazing. Plus the stands sold fruit like bananas.

Yay for you, you're almost back to goal AND you are traveling to Malta and Rome! I'm so happy for you (and jealous), you'll have a wonderful time. Of course you have to treat yourself to pasta and gelato while there.

I travel with teriyaki jerky, those 100 calories packs of almonds and cranberries, and low sugar protein bars. Not very exciting LOL

I think airline food is not even real food...
What helped me a lot, was ordering some sort of diet food, they have to make that especially on demand and is most of the time fresher and better quality.
Diet food can be anything from vegetarian to halal, just check with your airline company and pick one that suits you best.

As for snacks on board: nuts, beef jerkey, string cheese, protein powder (don't forget to take a a shaker with you and ask for milk or water).
I find these blog posts very inspirational:

English is not my first language anymore, so I may and do make mistakes in my spelling, or say things oddly. Please ask me, if you want any clarifications.

Whenever I travel to Europe it seems like I walk like crazy--which is a good thing. I'm going to try to be mindful and not be obsessive and enjoy my trip.

I'm going to look for the 100 calorie pack of almonds and cranberries. I just want to make sure that I have some low point food options. Thank you for the suggestion.

I cannot stomach airline food. It just makes me nauseous when I look at it. I always take my own food or purchase something before I board. I never pay attention to that option of selecting a meal. I'm going to go online to my airlines and make a selection! Thank you! I'm also going to check out worldaccordingto eggface. I haven't been on her site in a long time. Thank you!!!

Kenson, congrats on your great weight loss progress. That's some good work there.

I'm with others who suggest that you not agonize about what you're eating while on vacation. Yes, be mindful. No, don't pig out. But definitely enjoy the foods that Italy does better than anyone / anyplace else in the world.

Have a wonderful, wonderful time. Ciao!

P.S. Do NOT freak out when you get home and weigh the day after arriving -- that's just airflight weight (water, salt, etc.). It'll be gone in a day or two.

    Thank you Ann!
One of the weighers at WW commented on Sunday how well I'm doing and that made me feel good! I lose weight so slowly, but I'm so appreciative that I went back to WW and getting back into the right mindset.
I know that I'll want to weigh as soon as I get home, but I'm going to TRY to stay off the scale!

Well done on your continued loss - you are nearly there :-)

I'm with you on the airline food - it's not the best. Although some is definitely better than others.

I take protein powder (and my shaker) and some protein bars (we have a great brand in NZ that is really good nutritionally). I try not to eat to much on flights but in NZ we are so far away from the rest of the world it takes so long to get anywhere so I have to :-). I tend to just pick out the bits of the meals that I can eat - eggs, meat etc.

I am also travelling to Italy (in September) for 5 weeks. Planning on doing a lot of walking so will be mindful what I eat but will also enjoy all the fabulous seafood that they have there......and the gelato ;-)

Have a fabulous time - viaggiare in sicurezza.

    Congrats Kenson!

I don’t have any flight experience...my experience is as I’ve talked about being on the road. Mindfulness is my mantra.

I hope you have a fabulous time. I’m sure you’ll be walking a lot. You’ll be having so much fun, you won’t have time to obsess ;-)
