Default Food Relationship Question - POST Sleeve

I am not quite 3 years post-sleeve. My question and request for comment is about my/our relationship with food post sleeve.

I have definitely NOT had any hunger since sleeve. None. Ever. I think for the most part I hear the "full" message early unless I eat too fast (which as a working mom of 4 for most of my life, I learned).

That said, I no longer care about a lot of foods that I used to think I needed.
I seem to hit healthy choices and portions about 85% of the time.

I find when I am tired from lack of sleep (happens a lot) or ill, I tend to eat small amounts all day, which ends up being too much.

The QUESTION is, do we ever reach (or how do we) have a relationship with food that doesn't include measuring, tracking etc? Short of eating the same thing everyday, I'm not there yet for certain.

I have found my "normal" fluctuation is 1-3.5 lbs a week. So even though I weigh every morning, I don't freak out.

    Thoughts? And thanks!

    1 YR = 122.0 2 YR = 140.00 2.5 YR = 139
Happy with my weight; happy with my size; over-the-moon with my health!

You are so lucky - the hunger came back for me! I really have never gotten into measuring. My long term goal is to NOT live my life not as a weight loss patient. I think the 85% healthy choices is about where I'm at. Plus movement.

What do I still need to work on? Quit the snacking and drink more water.

My issues exactly! Snacking and more water!
I can't say that my hunger came back, but for me, its more like knowing that it's 9am, I need my snack, it's 12, its time for lunch, etc. If I don't eat, I definitely get an uncomfortable feeling from "sleevie." I do weigh and measure my food. It helps to keep me on track. Like you Annie, my weight fluctuates so much from day to day it's unbelievable!

There is certainly comfort that I'm normal, lol, at least in some respects.

I don't understand the wild fluctuation, but am getting more comfortable that it will NOT lead to a return of fatness. It was my worry the first few times. I just moderate the next days, try to get more rest and water.

Sharon, movement! You and Ann2 are heros for me. I have decided to write down the things I do that are kind to me every day.
Riding my exercise bike has been on my list two whole days in a row.

My goal is also to become a regular person and not track -- but small steps! Hugs!

I'm not sure that I will ever have a "normal" relationship with food.
Whilst I am more relaxed about food in general than when I was first sleeved I still need to weigh, measure, record what I eat and I still weigh myself every day.
I'm actually ok if this is "my" new normal as it works for me. Will I ever be able to totally relax about food? - not sure.

I think we all find out what works for us.....and that is ok :-)

I wish I could get away from measuring. But I need to, since my eyes are still bigger than my stomach. Especially with the small stomach. I put what seems like a teensy portion on my plate, but if there is more than 1 item on my plate it still winds up being too much.

I don't weigh every day. I have days where my hands are so swollen from my eczema that I know it will be terrible. I weigh if I can get even one of my rings on. Other than that, it would be too depressing.

Hunger came back for me too. But I think I've really developed a relationship with healthy food. I wouldn't even think about buying a candy bar or chips, I just walk right by at the store. I used to always buy the peanut m&m's. And I have never measured food. My nut just said to follow the protein first, then veggies, then good carbs if room. I couldn't live my life measuring, but I know that works for many of you. Like am I going to ask them to weigh my food in the retirement home some day?!?
