    Default First Post Op Visit

I had my first post op visit with the Dr today. I'll be 4 weeks out on Wednesday.

I've lost 24 lbs since surgery, 32 total.
My BMI went from 43.9 to 38.7 ( Now I'm Class II obese lol)
He said that I'm doing really good and can move to solid foods on Thursday ( woohoo!)

I haven't had any issues with anything I've eaten so far ( eggs, cheese, fish, chicken salad, tuna salad, hamburger meat, chicken, cooked spinach, green beans, refried beans) and I'm finally meeting my protein and water goals.

We are taking a short little vacation at the beginning of August before school starts.
My husband has to be in Wyoming for work so my two boys and I are flying up there on the 31st evening the day he is supposed to be done with work. We'll drive from there to see the Devils tower, Mt. Rushmore, Deadwood, ride the steam train and whatever else we can think of.

I'm already planning several vacations for next year as that was one of my main goals to be able to travel and just walk without being in pain and out of breath.

The back pain is already all but gone!

I could kick myself for backing out three years ago. However, I believe I was more mentally prepared for it this time.
I'm so glad I did it. I can't wait to get my life back and be the active person I've wanted to be!

Sounds like you're off to a great start, way to go! You are lucky like me, no complications or eating issues. Glad you're meeting your protein and liquid goals. Keep up the great work and enjoy your vacation.

I'm so happy for you and your successes! Isn't it great to finally look forward to planning outings and vacations? I saw extended family for the first time over the 4th and they were shocked. I hadn't shared my surgery with anyone other than my husband and when they asked how I lost all the weight I simply replied portion control, low carb and exercise. That is the truthful statement and what I do every day.
