    Question Post OP

Hello, quick question tmrw 7/8/19 I will be 14 days post op. Is it ok to go back to the gym to do cardio? I know walking 30 minutes a day is part of the plan so I feel like I'm ready top get back to the gym. All input is greatly appreciated.

Every doctor is different, probably because every person is different. I was cleared for all exercise at 2 weeks, but I've heard of others here waiting much longer. I would ask your doctor.

    Sounds like you're doing great!

    Ditto ^^^

A quick call to your Bari Team would be beneficial. I picked up the phone and called them anytime I had a question during the first year. They were happy to help ;-)

I emailed a lot, to the nurse or my nutritionist. I still email them if I forget something after 5 years!

Usually surgeon tell their patients they have to wait for the first post-op (one month for most) to be cleared for the gym. Walking is fine if you don't push it but like our friends said, check with your team first.

I just had a "rescue surgery" ten days ago, my surgeon told me I could walk around when I would feel like it, but go to a moderate speed and stay hydrated (heat wave). I didn't walk much until yesterday, went to see my PCP and since I can't drive and din't want to ask someone, thought "let's do it". Walking was fine on the way to go there, but after waiting in the waiting room, and the visit, the way back I felt really tired and had to take a nap!
    Today I'm fine..

I would agree that checking with your surgeon -- sometimes they tell you things right after surgery, or at your 1-week visit. But it's so much information it is easy to miss something. You don't want to do something till he says you're ok.
