Ann2 ... You are my new Hero !!.... the BRILLIANT part of your reply is SO ME !!... I stepped away from the forum and writing replies because I’m exactly what you just wrote .. I know my weaknesses, I know my limits, I KNOW ME .. Yet everyday I Struggle and EVERYDAY I SAY .. I stumbled but I didn’t fall but tomorrow I refuse to stumble !!.... But EVERYDAY I find a positive but it seems I always slip up on a negative. There’s no certain time for me .. it’s been as early as soon as I get up or right before bed.... I have gotten back on track, I’m exercising like never before. I getting my cardio, my protein, my water .. but everyday I’ll nibble at or drink something and get so freaking mad at myself... lately my stomach is reacting to things I eat.. since I decided come Hell or High Water I’m doing this the only thing I can ingest is protein shakes and scottage cheese.. a lot of the other stuff I could tolerate like tuna and beef jerky isn’t my friend anymore. I slid down the mountain not a slope. I found if I had a mixed drink I wouldn’t eat. So after work I’d down a couple ounces of liquor and I was good to go. I decided that wasn’t fair to me or anyone around me .. I was being sneaky, and then nibbling on whatever I decided ...

I have proven my way ain’t getting it so I’m on day 6 of ... PROTEIN.. maybe a veggie ..and water only .. no diet green tea .. diet lemonade ..and for damn sure no more vodka.. tequila or rum... I didn’t have a drink of choice. I just decided I’d have a drink. I’m done ... and I got 40 lbs to go and I’ll reevaluate again then. I never been one to drink a lot (frequently) but I also never enjoyed the feeling of the BUZZ either .. it wasn’t me getting drunk it was a quick buzz and chance to bypass dinner ..My wife was catching on .. something was up.. I’d hide /throw away food saying I’d ate. I had some issues forming and decided enough was enough. So along with everything I did early on I’ve came back here to read and maybe reply to some threads... I’ll take the thrashing I’m sure I’m In for from some here ... but you know a couple folks kicked me in my ass early on and it was OK ... LOL

Truss, I'm really glad my post spoke to you. Thanks so much for your response.

I had a thought while reading your post ... when you "stumble" and you struggle with it, aren't you also being presented with a "learning opportunity"? Maybe YOU are actually learning more because you're having to dig deeper than someone who sails through the easy-peasy first 6-9 months post-op, relying completely on their new tiny little tummy to control how much crap they eat, but who one day wakes up and realizes their stomach and appetite will now permit them to eat MORE crap. And that's what they do -- eat more of the crap they once could eat only a little bit of. And a few months later they start to believe their sleeve failed them.

I think you're doing an excellent job of paying attention to what's happening to you and around you. Kudos!

Thank you all for these latest replies!
Ann: as always, much appreciated, although the profanities were minor... lol.
One thing you said resonated with me: when people are on vacation or holidays, we tend to eat things that are different from the things we usually eat.
    That is so true.
In my case that also is my downfall, because as a fulltime RV'er, we are always travelling, so it is definitely more challenging for me.
But nevertheless, I can (and will) throw all the stuff I don't actually want to eat, out.
I have no idea why and how that found its way into my cupboard anyway, that must have happened overnight at some point...

We are preparing for a long trip all the way up to the Barents Sea, the upmost Northern part of our continent, that is going to be a very exciting and interesting journey.
English is not my first language anymore, so I may and do make mistakes in my spelling, or say things oddly. Please ask me, if you want any clarifications.

    O, and one funny thing:
I have a friend who also had wls, but she has gained a lot back.
She is the one that keeps telling me over and over again, that regain is inevitable.
Well, for her that is certainly true.
But when I was 1,5 years out, she said I would regain at 2 years, didn't happen.
Then she told me I would regain at 2,5 years, didn't happen.
Now she tells me I will regain at 3 years, and guess what?
    I won't let that happen!

I know y'all are in constant travel mode, Dutchie. And what a great time of life this must be for you both. My hat's off to you for your ability to do so well while on the road. Like I said above, what works for one person isn't what works for another, and we each have to find out our very own sweet spot 'twixt discipline and celebration.
