    Default Support Group Humor

I think I've already mentioned I don't get much out of support group at the hospital, but I still attend maybe 3 times a year.

Last night I heard the funniest comment. This girl said, "Once I lose my weight I know I'll have no problem maintaining it." Dream on baby! That's when the work begins.

Last night the speaker was a guy who was 3 months out. Super nice guy, but really? A speaker who has just started?

Then the magazine the hospital sends out had an article about a woman who lost about 100 pounds but was still morbidly obese. Is that advertising for bariatric surgery? I guess it is because she's lost an amazing amount of weight, but it still had me thinking "huh?!?"

Obviously I'm not in charge. Of anything except myself.

I laughed , but actually it is really sad.
I sometimes wonder what the succes rate of those hospitals is.
English is not my first language anymore, so I may and do make mistakes in my spelling, or say things oddly. Please ask me, if you want any clarifications.

Oh my! 100 lbs and still struggling; hopefully the person has enough support to get where they are at a healthy weight for them.

And totally agree that maintenance for the rest of your life is the challenge.

I don't go to the group near me for a number of reasons; they have one group for newbies and the one that follows is for those in maintenance.
    [I]HW: 240 lbs SW: 199 lbs GW: 140 lbs

    1 MO = 167.0 2 MO = 156.4 3 MO = 148.4 4 MO = 140.6
    5 M) = 136.0 6 MO = 130.0
    1 YR = 122.0 2 YR = 140.00 2.5 YR = 139
Happy with my weight; happy with my size; over-the-moon with my health!

I watched a 600 lb life last night that really highlighted the struggle that weight loss is ... he lost over three hundred pounds under supervision but whenever he went home would gain 200 in 2 months! He did this three times and finally the third time he died...his body just could not take it any more. It just reminded me how hard it is to keep on the path, we have to be eternally vigilant. That girl who said it will be easy to maintain is in for a wake up!

Actually I'd like that more than one big group. But the maintenance group would be really small, I think last night there were only 3 of us. But I definitely had no interest in hearing about the experiences of a guy 3 months out. Been there, done that, and so long ago I can't even remember.

i do not have a support group to attend, so this is my support and I am so grateful for it. It has helped me through this whole procedure and still helps me to keep going.

This is my support group too! In the comfort of my own home and I don't even need to put on a bra to participate.

BTW- Anyone else find bras uncomfortable post-op? Can't stand the feeling across my breast plate and upper tummy area. Hoping as more time passes and I lose more weight, the bras will feel less restrictive.

YES! Oh my goodness, I still have pain from my bras, although it's not nearly as bad. I actually wore a cami, shaper thingy instead of a bra the first month, it was so painful. I think bras suck in general anyway though LOL

Bras were the #1 most difficult article of clothing to purchase after the sleeve. I don't know why I had such a problem, probably the loose skin under my arms. After a years of buying, trying, donating, I FINALLY found one that fit and have the same style in every color. When they wear out, I buy them again. I should buy more in case they change the style.

If you are feeling pain, could you just do a cheap sports bra while you are losing? That pain should go away eventually. Good luck!

I also have trouble finding a good bra.
I still wear sports bra's and recently I found something that is called a "bralette".
Do you have those where you live?
They come in all forms and sizes and some are really cute and sexy.
I don't need under wiring and a lot of support anymore.

I am going to look for a stretchy cami, sports bra, or bralette. It's been driving me nuts! Thanks for all the helpful replies
