Default Newly sleeved... pain when swallowing liquids

This is new for me... so I’m not sure if it’s normal.
Whenever I drink water or any other type of liquid, I get sort of what feels like a wave of pain.
It seems to starts from just the bottom of my ribs and travel upwards. It is very uncomfortable and hurts.
    Is this normal?

    Hi

Not sure when you were sleeved but tiny, tiny sips are what is required to start with. Also maybe try different temperature drinks - you might find that warm liquids are a little easier to swallow.
I would consult my surgeon and check just to make sure though.

I agree with the comment about checking with your doctor. It is way too easy to get hydrated, especially if you are where it is summertime and you are in the heat.

If you are recently sleeved, it may be from the tube in your throat during surgery; some people are more sensitive. But please, check with doctor.

The same thing happened to me in my first few days- sip very slowly, small sips, and know it will get better.
Definitely check with your doctor though- to be sure.

Are you taking teeny, tiny sips? That typically works. Good question for your medical team if it still hurts. Good luck!

    all of the above.
English is not my first language anymore, so I may and do make mistakes in my spelling, or say things oddly. Please ask me, if you want any clarifications.

I could do little more than wet my mouth early on. Any more than that and it hurt. I drank teeny, tiny sips every 1-2 minutes my first few days home. I even set a timer on my phone to remind me to drink (drove my husband nuts). I agree with the others too - contact your surgeon if you are more than a week out and feeling pain.
