    Default Heat and dehydration

    Hello all!
I have a quick question. Do you find that its hard to keep cool in the heat outside as well as stay hydrated?
I have now passed out 4 times. 3 at Walt Disney world and 1 time working out outside? I get no real warning its going to happen. I recover in about 10 min. But its SO EMBARRASSING!
I know that drinking plenty of fluids is key. I feel like I do. Well over a gallon. Just thought Id ask.

A gallon of water should be enough..
I was having issues post-op with hydration because at the time I was living in Asia and couldn't drink much.

One factor, and you should ask you doctor about it, might be low blood sugar.
I was in hospital for one week of tests on January, and was surprised that one of the specialist concluded that I have hypoglycemia and it's a side effect of the sleeve.
It seems it happens from 30 mns to 1h after a meal. I was eating moderate low carb already, but then noticed the episodes would show up especially if I was eating complex carbs during a meal, even a little. Indeed the hospital nutritionist told me to increase my carb intake, I did exactly the opposite (I did study nutrition myself, so I know better than listening to people who don't follow the last research) and those episodes did decrease.

I've been so tired and fatigued with low iron or anemia, and other issues for decades that it's hard to understand what symptom is popping out sometimes....

There is also such a thing as getting sick from too much water. Sounds like a question for your doctor.

I've also had a problem with blood sugar at times, and I'm not diabetic. My NUT recommended a protein and carb snack before every work out. And water!

I'm always hiking, but it hits me maybe twice a year, where I feel like I'm trying to walk through water and break out in a cold sweat. I'd just sit or lie down wherever we were and hubby would walk home and come pick me up. So weird, like I couldn't go one more step.

Now that it's hot and humid where I live I always try to get my hiking in as early in the morning as possible. The heat/sun can really drain you. I volunteered for our church service in the park this past Sunday, was in the sun for about 4 hours, drank a lot of water, but still felt like crap.

Talk to your medical team and see what they tell you. Good luck!

    A gallon is very much.
You also flush out a lot of minerals with that water.
I also think you should talk to your doctor.
English is not my first language anymore, so I may and do make mistakes in my spelling, or say things oddly. Please ask me, if you want any clarifications.

Thank you for your in site. My blood test came back on point as far as minerals go so tomorrow I'm going to do a protein and carb snack before my workout. Thank you again.

    Good advice above.
Once or twice when I have been out walking I have felt "odd" and have had to stop for a while. Then slowly continue on. Once home I have had a snack (cheese and a cracker or peanut butter) and have instantly felt better.
Definitely a good idea to try the snack option.

    Wow! What a timely thread.
It never occured to me that the heat (and NC humidity) were culpable in increasing my low blood sugar!

Had a ridiculous episode yesterday after the dentist.
