    Lightbulb Instant Drunk

    Hi,
It's been almost 1 year. Always approached alcohol so doubtful after surgery. Never drink anything fast. 3 days ago i slosh down 1 glass of cocktail(just 7cl vodka as alcohol) idk why, maybe i thought it still effects me like pre-surgery. NO Just No. Pre-Surgery i need to drink 10 beer to feel like hard drunk or need to eat 3 large pizzas to feel really full. I was monster. But no. I got drunk in 5 min like i just drink 10 beer. It was pretty intense and fun but alcohol effects me like i got shot with alcohol from vein. Omg
How it effects you guys ?
I feel optimistic at least cheap and fast drunk

Yes! I really don't drink now but half a glass of a very good red makes me a happy person to be around! I used to drink a good martini but gosh I don't think it would be wise now :-)

I stopped drinking alcohol about a year before my surgery (not that I drank much anyway) so I don't really know how it would affect me now.

I’m not a drinker. But my friend who had a sleeve said she gets wasted off one drink so now I am scared to drink. Lol I will probably try it sometime...most likely at home and not in public.

Even if I'm French I was never a drinker. Long history of family alcoholism always kept me on my toes.
The most I would drink pre-op was like three small glasses of red wine per year...

Post-op I was no planning on drinking before reaching at list one year out, but had food in a restaurant where they used alcohol in a sauce (was not written in the ingredients) and I got instantly sick after one small bite!!

Now, 3 1/2 years out, I still don't drink much, usually not more than one sip every six months "to try a really rare, or really good wine" but always with food.

You should be aware that alcohol post-sleeve can trigger big issues, especially if it is used as a transfer addiction (from food to alcohol). Many people become alcoholic post-sleeve because of that.

While I don't really understand how getting drunk is fun (because in my back mirror I have a heavy family history, all my uncles on my mother side died from alcohol and that was not pretty) I think many of us get the sleeve to get back to a better health because obesity is slowly killing us.
We didn't choose to be obese. But we do choose to drink. If you need to drink, I would kindly advise to see a counselor to help you solve that issue.

    Take care.

I never drank much, but since my sleeve I have taken one sip, just a couple of weeks ago.
I didn't like it at all, so no alcohol for me anymore.
English is not my first language anymore, so I may and do make mistakes in my spelling, or say things oddly. Please ask me, if you want any clarifications.

Haven't had my first drink just yet after my sleeve, Doc said wait 6 weeks so July 4th is the day.

Friend of mine who had a sleeve gets a little happy after a drink but can handle himself well and doesn't get crazy.

Will be interesting to say the least, I will definitely have it at home to make sure I don't make a fool out of myself.

After about a year I said I would have one drink and stuck to that rule for about one more year. But then one drink turned into two, three, or four. I think I was jealous that I couldn't drink like everyone else. Needless to say I was drinking way too much. It is a side-effect of bariatric surgery, addiction transfer.

If you can stick to one drink, great. If not, I would suggest not drinking. I drank heavily for three years, and it almost killed me, even though I only drank at home at night and never had any issues in the morning, no shakes or hangovers or anything. I quit. Best thing I ever did. I was having serious digestive issues and they are gone. My doctor says alcohol interferes with how you digest your food, especially for a sleeved person. And just like food, people really don't pay any attention to how little you eat or if your drink or not. No one cares.

    Be careful.

When I do have a cocktail, it is usually just one, rarely two. Just as everyone has stated, one drink makes me feel as if I've had several.

I don't drink like I used to. I get tipsy fast but sometimes I get sick after a small drink. I stick to white wine but I am thinking about giving it up for a while to re focus on my health. I don't like the sick feeling I get when I drink now. I miss being able to drink a beer but I don't regret the surgery.
