    Hi, welcome here!
    Two tips from me:
    1. take a little pillow with you to tuck between your stomach and your seat belt on the car ride home.
    2. Ask the surgeon to push the gas out, that is used to inflate your stomach during surgery. For her it is easy to do and it will save you some discomfort afterwards.

    Welcome!

Mixed emotions are normal. Sometimes I had to remind myself to breathe. LOL

The first week...Sip, walk, rest, repeat.

You’re at the best site for information, encouragement and support. There’s a wealth of knowledge amongst us.

VSG is one of the best decisions I ever made for myself. My only regret is that I waited so long.

Best of luck as you embark on this amazing journey!

Hello im new to the group to i just had my sleeve done june 12th. I understand the nervousness etc...when they say bring a pillow for car ride home they arent joking seat belt hurts on your stomach after having it done and for while im still bringing it with me bc my inclusions on my left side rub on the seat belt and hurts ...walk not alot but even around your house to get things yourswlf it helps get the gas out and just be careful getting off the couch bc you can tear your stitches open or glue that they use if you strain to much. It happened to me i thought i didnt need help and well it tore. The gas pain does hurt walking helps and let it out whenever you can . But ive lost 15lbs from day i started my 2 week preop diet till now 4 days post op so to me thats great...this week has been hard not eating anything just having liquids is deff hard but i dont feel hungry. I miss the sensation of just chewing and tasting food though. Hoping it gets better soon . Lightheaded alot lately i think bc lack of sugar . Youll deff want to get some G2 itll help keep you hydrated till you can drink enough to stay hydrated . Just my experience though. I get full on half a popsicle now which is nuts lol .

Welcome to the group. You will be just fine. After the surgery, as hard as it may seem, sip, sip, sip your water. You do not want to get dehydrated. It will become second nature quickly. Good Luck!

Nerves are normal, it's just human nature. Try and stay as busy as you can leading up to the day of the surgery. I did much better when I didn't have idle time on my hands to think too much LOL. My advice, bring your own bed pillow for the car and I used it to sleep with also. It helped so much. Make sure you have some lip moisturizer, my lips were so dry. You'll hear it a ton, but tiny sips often, and also nap/rest when you can. Your body is in major healing mode so be kind to yourself. I did all of my shopping for protein powders and drinks, clear broths, etc. before the surgery. Liquid Tylenol is great if you can find it so you don't have to crush the pills.

You'll probably have a couple/few days of feeling like crap and wondering wth did I just do, but don't worry. It gets better each day and after the first week, you'll be amazed how quickly you'll start feeling better mentally and physically. I'm thrilled and I know you will be too.
