Default No restriction 2 weeks out?

I am almost two weeks post sleeve, and it doesn't really feel like anything is different. I am following my diet, but I can drink much more water than my doctors say I am supposed to. I don't mean to. I've just been keeping a water bottle with me to sip on throughout the day. And I am finding I am finishing it hours before I should.

Still new to all of this. Just wondering if anyone experienced this.

You are still newly sleeved. You will not feel any restriction until you start eating solid food. Right now you should still be on liquids and soft foods. You will have restriction. Trust me.

    Ditto ^^^

You’ll feel restriction soon enough. You’re fortunate to be able to meet your liquid requirements...dehydration is very scary.

What Kenson and Cyndi said ^^^^^

I am 3 weeks today and I am also amazed at how much more I can drink now. I can take a large gulp or two or three at a time of water and not feel like I have a brick in my chest (not on purpose, just still forget about sipping and get very thirsty in the South Florida summer heat!) It is COMPLETELY different with foods, even mushy pureed foods. You will definitely feel the restriction when you transition into that phase - especially when you are not washing it down with fluids. Waiting the 30 minutes after eating is one of the most challenging things for me. I've had to revert back to liquid meals quite often over the past week because I just felt so overfull and likely at too much at a time.

Enjoy your water drinking!! you are very lucky!!!
my story was really different, had to drink only sweet at first (for several days), then only cold or I would get very nauseous, only little sip, and I was under a really hot weather (Asia) for 18 months post-op and had several issues with dehydration (with made me nauseous too!). Drinking was hard...

I struggled to get my water in. I had immediate restriction. I had to set a timer for every 15 minutes to remind myself because I was always so full. That has changed some but not like it has for others. I have seen people put out videos of what they can eat in a day at 3 months post-op that I STILL can't do at 8 months post-op. It is important for everyone to remember that all of our experiences can vary tremendously. But the ladies above are so right. Once you bring in the food, whether it be pureed, soft foods or solids, you will feel that restriction. Just don't ignore it.

Typically no one feels restriction on liquids. Believe me, when you try your first piece of chicken, you will feel it! No worries.

Even now? Now it's my "go to" food. I cook a lot at a time and keep it in the fridge for when I'm hungry. But my first bite at a restaurant at about 6 weeks out I almost died. Right in front of friends.

Hmm. Chicken is sometimes a friend, and sometimes not. Today I had a hard boiled egg in my salad, and its the first one that didn't try to kill me on first bite in over 18 months. However, I always pick the protein out of the salad first, and could only finish about 1/4 C after eating the egg.

So restrictions changes, or at least perceived ability as to what you can eat. I almost always can eat steamed or broiled shrimp. Fish, sometimes. Depends.

And use to add lemon to things, but no longer can. However lime works.

And any one who can keep hydrated, that's a great thing for long term success!

For me it's turkey! I made a special dish with turkey and foie gras for our first Xmas in France in 15 years (in 2017) I was two years out and couldn't even have two bites.
I mean it's a lean meat really versatile but can't use it! and I don't like cold cuts of turkey...

It’s very interesting to me that we’ve all had various forms of (I call it) “food rejection” since VSG...My “New Normal” doesn’t include many foods I used to eat.

I’ve found there are certain things I just cannot eat without pain or vomiting it back up. And sometimes I just can’t stand the smell or taste.

I’m grateful I was encouraged to keep a log. I have a section entitled “Black List” for those especially egregious foodstuffs.
