    Default Protein

I was sleeved on June 6 (last Thursday!). I'm feeling fantastic, and I am doing a pretty good job of getting in my water. I need protein advice. I enjoyed Premier Protein shakes before surgery. I had read that your tastes may change. Well, the shakes make me want to gag now. I bought some Isopure protein powder (unflavored) and added it to broth. It may claim to be unflavored, but it tasted nasty to me. Any suggestions?

I went through the same thing. I can barely choke down the Premeir shakes now and the Isopure unflavored protein powder is sooooo nasty. Try the Genepro unflavored protein powder. It mixes, blends and tastes much better than the Isopure and the scoop is much smaller too. I got a small bag off of Amazon for $18.95 and they also sell the larger bags for $37.00 or so. I mixed it into my soups (using blender, before heating) when I was doing liquids and was able to get 30gm of protein in with each soup.

Ya, I have a half bag of that myself because I can't stomach it. The only unflavored that I had that was truly unflavored was Genepro unflavored. I go to the Vitamin Shoppe and buy Isopure low carb protein powder. I cant stomach it in a smoothie. I have to stir it in water instead of shaking or putting it in a blender. I am 8 months post-op now and I'm trying to get enough protein through food now because I'm struggling with the protein. I still can't eat a whole egg so it's hard to do without extra help.

Bariatric store dot com sells sample packs so you can try it before you buy a big bag of it. That's what I did. $3.99 for 2 packs.

I liked Isopure because it was a clear drink, not a shake. Flavors were sort of odd so don't but a case before buying a few single bottles. I liked the orange diluted with a lot of ice.

I love the Premier chocolate, and I use it with my decaf coffee...but the other ones didn't taste right to me.

Bone broth has a bit of protein, and I found all of them good, except the one with lemon grass. Again, can't tolerate lemon post sleeve.

Sometimes it seems like you're better off having the more expensive choice of one or two of something than a larger quantity.
