    Default Once upon a time...

    I was very slim.
Mind you, I am talking about 40 years ago, in my pre children age.
I was kind of a flower power/bohemian type of gal, with the wardrobe to proof it.
Then I had the kids, and I was no longer skinny...
    But my daughter was!
So she got all my beautiful clothes.

She is kind of a clothes hoarder and can't throw anything away.
So, over the years she (like her mother) grew bigger and bigger and now she even heavier than I was pre op...
And, big surprise, she asked me, if I wanted my clothes back!
I couldn't believe she still had them!

So this afternoon I took a trip down memory lane and a lot of my clothes were there.
    And they fit!
So here I am, age 65, fitting in the same clothes I wore at 25!
    That blows my mind...
But some of those clothes are very precious to me and bring back great memories, also for hubby.
Some clothes just seem to be a part of me and the girl I was back then.
    I am so happy!
English is not my first language anymore, so I may and do make mistakes in my spelling, or say things oddly. Please ask me, if you want any clarifications.

Wow Dutchie, that is one of the coolest posts I've ever read. That is so amazing and incredible that you shared these with your daughter and now they've come back to you. So interesting, thanks for sharing.

I’m so happy for you, Dutchie!

I’ve had the same experience and I’m grateful that I followed my instincts. I love to wear things again that I thought wouldn’t fit me ever again.

VSG has been a miracle in my life, as it has been in yours.

Thank you sooo much for this uplifting post ;-)

Oh how lovely! I also had those clothes, and my middle daughter "inherited" them, but wore them to absolute tatters! And then pinned them together with safety pins and wore them some more.

One nice thing is that I like, at 67, wearing pretty much the same clothes I wore in college. Jeans, navy blue boat shoes, a tee shirt and a jean over shirt. Or magical hippy skirts and tops. Except for church, when I wear a costume appropriate for church. But still not dressing like my mom!

    Please post some photos!

That's pretty cool, we have moved around the country probably 14 times and haven't saved much of anything.

I did however save my 40 year old wedding dress. I had it "preserved." Well I opened it and the preservation did not work, the lace was disintegrating. I tried it on as I weigh the same now as my wedding day, and while it zipped to the waist, I couldn't button it around my ribs. Do people's ribs grow as they age? My extra skin is all below my ribs!! It was donated, with just a little repair work I hope someone will enjoy it. It's sort of "flower power" style too, and I wore flowers in my hair instead of a veil. It was the 70's!
