Default Anyone else with abnormal PTH test?

I had my labs, and all was great except PTH and L-Hydroxy. Hyperparathroidism, for which I will be seeing an endocrinologist.
Grateful, because I've felt so tired and lousy and sometimes at 67 you just wonder if this is how it is.

So something fixable is good. From what I've read, its more age-related/female than VGS. Just wondered if anyone else has had it.
    Thanks!

PS Waiting on referral letter -- I am not good at waiting when I feel lousy

Good luck at the endocrinologist. They may have you do a 24 hour urine collection because hyperparathyroidism can cause an excess release of calcium, also can indicate osteoporosis. You are correct many times it is age/gender related. Keep us updated, and again good luck!

I haven't had normal labs done. I was supposed to have them done at 6 months post-op but didn't have insurance anymore after the husband situation. Now I have Medicaid but it won't pay for labs for wls so my doctor has to strategically test me for things. My iron, potassium and vitamin d were the ones that Medicaid would pay for. So stupid but whatever. Eventually, I will have everything tested that I need even if I have to pay for it. Just need an amount given to me so I'm prepared to pay for it.

Thank you all for the kind thoughts! I am STILL waiting for a referral, and didn't have much grace in waiting to start with, lol. I love my primary care (been with her 20 years), but she has a new admistrative umbrella and so...working out the kinks.

I do have osteopenia, and low blood calcium, which means it is probably secondary hypoparathyroidism. My D is low as well. Not worried about how we'll fi it, I'm just ready for WHEN! <3
