Default 6 week post op update

Hi Fellow Losers (I love being able to say that,

Just posting to share my 6 week sleeve ride. It's been life changing, it's been scary (at times), it's been frustrating, but most of all it has been the best decision I've ever made. I have learned so much by reading here and sharing with others. I've had a fairly easy time with everything in general, but I've also had a few bumps along the way, nothing that I couldn't research here, or check in with my Bari Team/Nut and couldn't get sorted.

    * I did have the dreaded 3 week stall - yes, I know it could happen, but it still concerned me. After checking in my food journals I realized that I was not getting enough water in. As soon as I made that adjustment it started coming off again.

    * Walking every day has been HUGE for me. I do about 3 miles and it is the most enjoyable and relaxing time of my day. I use this time to 'recharge the battery' so to speak. It also helped with the cramps in my legs and back that I would get and it does help distribute the excess fat floating around in my system in my opinion.

    * My Food Journal has saved me countless times. It helps keep me focused and accountable. It really has become second nature to log everything in and I like having it in black and white so I can easily see when/where a problem might arise. I highly recommend using some form of tracking if you can.

    * I always eat my proteins first and get at least 60-70 grams per day. I struggle getting in good carbs because I'm so full after proteins, but I'm doing better with that. I found when I wasn't getting enough good carbs, I had such low energy. A simple adjustment to that and I felt so much better.

    * I don't snack. Period. That was what got me in the sad shape I was in (100 pounds overweight) and I refuse to go down that road again. I plan my meals each day and honestly, I haven't felt the need or hungry enough to snack anyway. I'm not saying I won't 'ever' have something other than my meals, I just refuse to make it a habit, it's dangerous territory for me.

    * I stop eating as soon as I feel full. I've learned the hard way, don't try to eat that last little bite no matter what. That full sensation is easy to recognize so I don't ignore it.

    * I feel mentally healthier and happier than I have in years! I'm shocked at the mental changes I've experienced. A definite bonus on top of the physical weight loss. I feel lighter mentally and physically, it's the BOMB! I've done things I haven't done or even felt like doing in years.

My blood pressure it back to normal range, no more acid reflux and sleep apnea symptoms at night. I sleep like the dead lol.

The sleeve really has given me a second chance to live a healthier, happier life. It's the best thing I could have ever done for myself. I hope each and every one of you who have chosen to get or have gotten the sleeve feels the same. Best of luck to all!

    That sounds absolutely great!
Just keep going like this, it is so much fun!
English is not my first language anymore, so I may and do make mistakes in my spelling, or say things oddly. Please ask me, if you want any clarifications.

I am so happy for you! In such a short amount of time, you have experienced such positive results! I'm about 3 weeks behind you and I'm going to cut and paste your post into a word doc. Every line you posted struck a chord with me - the water, walking, good carbs. It hasn't been easy, but it's a worthwhile journey. Thanks for posting this!
