I am still amazingly thankful for my sleeve, it never gets old, even after over 5 years. Last night we went out and I had a salad with chicken on top, also full of tons of yummy stuff like tomatoes, avocado, artichoke, cheese, olives, etc. I started with the chicken and was full without even eating maybe 1/8th of the salad. (It was huge). So anyone who tells you they lose their restriction over the years is fooling themselves, they just aren't eating what they should.
I could easily regain all my weight by eating crap every half hour if I wanted to. But I don't.
My doctor told me my sleeve won't stretch. I know there are conflicting opinions about this, but I believe it. If I start in on dense protein I am full quite quickly.
Luckily I'm married to a skinny guy who bikes hundreds of miles a week (Ride the Rockies next weekend) who basically finished the salad off. He can use the calories! Can you imagine riding up and down mountains peaks every day for over a week? Plus he lost probably 40 pounds by cooking for and eating with me after surgery. That and retiring so he can bike all the time.
