    Default Re-Visiting the Community

    HI everyone!
I had my sleeve in May 2011 so am probably considered a veteran.
I was very active in the WL community for a couple of years and some of you may even have come across my You Tubes as I pretty well documented the first year.
I do have a tale to tell as I had a very significant regain after losing 110 pounds but then lost it again and live at plus 20 pounds from my goal- and am happy here.

My reason for revisiting the community is that 8 years out I have had to have y gall bladder removed and would love to find out the experiences of sleevers post gall bladder removal. As you can imagine the surgeon didn't know a lot.

Looking forward to following your stories and perhaps being of help to the new ones on the bench :-P

    Welcome back!
I am always interested to hear from veterans.
English is not my first language anymore, so I may and do make mistakes in my spelling, or say things oddly. Please ask me, if you want any clarifications.

Welcome back! I'd love to hear the tale!

And re your gall bladder ... LOL ... I had my gall bladder out four weeks after my VSG surgery (in 2014). Piece 'o cake. Surgery and recovery were easy-peasy, and I've not had a glimmer of issues of any kind since then.

Wow- four weeks later? That is major- barely time to recover from one! It is too bad they didn't do them together, eh? Glad you are doing well!

I had my gallbladder removed at the same time as my sleeve. No issues so far.

I want to tell about my journey from reaching goal and then regaining a lot and then losing a lot to now...should I do it in the regular VSG thread? I think it would be better seen there...so if you want my "tale " that is the place to look :-)

My original You Tube- which went to a year can be found under MeggiePrice .

I haven't had my gallbladder out, but from what I've heard here it's about the same as sleeve surgery.

Congrats on finding your "happy place" with your weight!

    Thank you!
I would say so far it is a bit easier than the sleeve was as adjusting to having that tiny stomach was an issue! The pain, gas pain, etc. has been similar. My question was whether it affects us sleevers more to lose our gall bladder... the doctors don't have a lot of knowledge of our world!

I am establishing my new normal!

Yes- for me being 20 pounds above my lowest weight is something I can maintain...and having been to the abyss gaining 70 pounds back and losing it again I want that happy spot!

wow!! 70 pounds!! I'm "crying" over my almost 40 pounds regain (thanks meds: 4 months on huge dosage of prednisone) and understand perfectly it must have been devastating!!

I feel really frustrated after so much efforts to reach a "normal weight" to face such a huge regain, and can't seem to lose for now, even if I try really hard. I need to stop my meds to get somewhere...can't stop the PPI for now...

Anyway, how long did it take you to regain, and how long to lose?

I regained over a really bad period of about a year...
I lost it in about seven months. It was precipitated by , of all things, switching anti depressants during a medication mess up trying all kinds of things for chronic pain. Interestingly Welbutrin turned out to really inhibit my appetite for a little while as it works on dopamine. I got it together after that and took control back. I still struggle! I am an addict- pure and simple- to food. With most addictions you can give up the thing you are addicted to and avoid it. Not so with food!
I really sympathize with your medication issues- it gives you a huge hurdle to overcome!
